Poll: Favorite Place You've Ever Been To

Christian and I are looking for some new vacation ideas. Where is the coolest/most favorite place that you've ever been in the world to and why? I can't wait to hear some ideas =)

I guess I'll repsond too: The Cinque Terre, Italy. That was a stop on our honeymoon and it is the most beautiful & amazing place I have ever been to! Consists of 5 little cities on the ocean. It was so romantic and wonderful food & wine.

Hoping to go back there for a whole week in a couple years instead of just a few days

  • My all time favorite place I have ever been is Scotland :) Yes, Scotland. lol.

I just fell in love with the country & people when I was there a few years ago. Scotland was actually my #1 DW location, but there was no way in hell DH's family would go all that way... so we went tropical. (I still loved my wedding! Cancun is a-ma-zing).

I just loved Scotland. I loved the vibe in Edinburgh, I loved the history and culture. It was awesome & I can't wait to go back some day, with DH. I have no idea when that will be but I know I will get there again!

I love going to museums and historical sites when I go on vacation, which is one reason I loved Scotland so much.

  • Well, this won't help at all but Jamaica. I've been 3 times and love it. I love the vibe, the people, the music, the food... Also, it's cheap and easy to get there. 3hour direct flight! I haven't been a lot of places though and Scotland and Italy sound amazing.
  • My current favorite US destination is San Diego. It's like the coolest city ever and if I made a million dollars a year I would totally live there.

Victoria, BC is a really neat little city to spend a weekend in. I also really liked Grand Cayman.

  • I'm definitely no world traveler, but my favorite place I've ever been is Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. And I'm leaving for there in approximately 20 days, but who's counting!?!?

Also, DH's response would be Florence, Italy. He went last summer as a chaperon on a school trip and can't wait to take me someday.

  • I unfortunately haven't seen much of the world, but I've seen a decent amount of the U.S.

There are 3 places that stick out to me as the most beautiful places I have seen - Hawaii, Dominica of the Caribbean, and Colorado. They all have mountains and water of some sort. I know that my choices are pretty general - but there are a lot of gorgeous areas in each of these places!

  • I'm not a world traveler either (never been to Europe) but I was able to take a trip to Australia 9 years ago.  It was the best!  The people, the attitude, the food, the scenery, the wildlife was awesome!  We went to a few different cities, Sydney was my fave.

For a more budget friendly trip, I absolutely loved Savannah, GA.  Lisa I think you and Christian would really like it, there are lots of microbreweries down there!

  • I of course LOVE Aruba. But that's my most obvious answer.

Switzerland was BEAUTIFUL! I had never been to Europe before and the scenery was just so amazing! I thought it was fascinating to see how different it was than the US too.

One of my most favorite New England places is Maine. There's nothing like the coast of Maine! It just warms my heart!

This would be my IL's answer. They love Maine. Love love love it. Talk about it all the time.

  • I will add one of my favorite places in the US. See, when you say "vacation" I read "international" because in my family there is no domestic travel if it doesn't mean visiting family. All of my extended family is located in either Oregon, Massachusetts, or New Hampshire, so if we travel within the US it always involves one of those places.

Ok so on to one of my favorite US destinations! The Oregon Coast. Gorgeous. Relaxing. Gorgeous.

  • I've visited a lot of the US and by far, my favorite US destination is definitely the Solvang/Santa Ynez area of California.  I saw Marilena posted on FB that she was there this weekend and I was SOOO envious!  It is just such a peaceful, beautiful, romantic and fun place - and so close to Santa Barbara!  My dad lived there for a few years and DH and I actually got engaged there, but living in MA, I do not have many opportunities to get out there.  If I were to win the lottery, this is absolutely 100% where I would move.  I also really like the Mammoth Lakes region.

As for outside the US - I have only been to England and the Caribbean/Mexico - So far I have loved everywhere I have visited.  Australia is very high on my must-see places.

  • Outside of the US my favorites are Amsterdam (besides being perfectly crazy it's also a beautiful city), Munich (the beer!!) and Switzerland (the mountains are breathtaking).

Inside the US, one of my favorite vacations was to Austin, TX.  We went for the South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival and it was a blast.  Four days straight of wandering from bar to bar to restaurant to park to bar (repeat until you can no longer stand), eating great food, listening to the best bands, and people watching.  We'll miss it this year because of our wedding, but maybe we'll go next year for our anniversary!  :)

    Anniversary
  • Where you got married.  :)  Sorry, I suck.

If you're looking for something within the US Rocky and I do a yearly camping/road trip from San Francisco, through Marin, up to Mendocino, and up into Humboldt. Avenue of the Giants is beautiful and there is so much to see/do!

  • My top favorite US cities are Seattle, Chicago, New Orleans and St Louis.  The only other country I've been to is Jamaica which I absolutely ADORE and wish we could go every year!!

This!  Or California in general.  May be boring but it's so different from where I live and I love it a lot.  3 months 3 days and counting until I'm out there again!

  • I loved Istanbul, Turkey...the culture is very different, the food was good and the Grand Bazaar is freaking amazing (overwhelming at the beginning, but amazing).

City of Bath, England is another of my favorites.

    Also Mykonos 'cause is gorgeous.

And Florence, but you've been there.

  • My travel has been limited too, but I LOVED France (Paris and the costal towns) and can't wait to go back w/ DH! We also LOVE Costa Rica and plan to go back there some day as well. Punta Cana is great for a beach vacation as well!
  • Turks & Caicos was awesome.

Aside from that, I haven't spent much time (or like...any time) out of the country, but domestically I love San Francisco like woah.

  • I'm not an experienced traveler by any means, but Puerto Vallarta was beautiful. Inside the US I love Charleston SC and the Outer Banks both.
    Anniversary
  • US: South Beach, Miami is my favorite place to be.

    Carribean/MX:  Definitely Cancun or Tulum

Europe:  There's no place like Greece.  Stop thinking about it and just book it already.  I'll be there for most of the summer, so if you're thinking about going this summer, let me know and I'll help you set up your plans.
