Boudoir Photography Recs Raleigh Area?

Hi,

I'm considering doing a boudoir session.  Does anyone have recommendations for someone good in the Raleigh area?

I'm looking for someone I can be comfortable with (obvious) and will guide me to look my best!

Also, for those of you who have done it before, are there any "lessons learned" that you can share?  I've never done anything like this before so any thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks!

Re: Boudoir Photography Recs Raleigh Area?

  • I did a session about a month ago. Sorry I don't have any local recs; I chose to travel a ways & went to Regeti Photography in Warrenton, VA (they were one of the spearheaders in this latest resurgance of b-pic popularity).

Here's the advice given to me: a cute black bra & panty set, another set in your favorite color or white. A pair of thigh highs &/or hose (fishnet, cuban, or plain - whatever you like best). One or two pairs of heels (I picked up a shiny new pair from Payless for $20). If you've got a large chest, avoid anything w/out much support, like little lacey nighties.

I also brought a pair of tight jeans, a fitted NC State tank top, one of DH's white dress shirts, a black tie, & bought a fedora ($12 at JC Penny).

If you find a photographer that's skilled w/ b-pics, they'll make you look awesome, no matter your shape, size, or age. Next to Lasik, it's the best money I've ever spent on myself, & I'll say w/out hesitation that it's done more for my self confidence than anything else I've ever done :)

  • April at Evoke!  evokenc dot com.  She is in Raleigh.

Ditto everything Laud said.  I would also recommend a professional hair and make up person.  April works with Elizabeth Tolley ncmakeupartist dot com and she is a.mazing.  Well worth the price.  If you dont go the professional hair and makeup route, def get fake eye lashes.

  • April is AMAZING!!! She will make you look your absolute best. I know she is taking some time off right now though, so not sure what her availability is like.

I know some girls like Ashley with Story Photographers. I personally liked April's style better, but it's just an opinion thing.

Advice that I would add: big accessories! Big jewelry, bracelets, gloves, stockings, whatever you've got. Also, definitely look at pictures online to get an idea of poses that might look good. What might feel ridiculous while you are doing it is often what turns out looking the best. Exaggeration just looks hot on camera. Hope this helps!

If you need more recs for photographers, try posting on the NC Knot Board. I know a lot of the knotties around the state have done these and they probably have more ideas as well.
