NER: Public Display of Affection
How much do you engage in public display of affection?
If you have a houseguest and your s/o leaves, do you give a quick peck goodbye or do you have multiple lingering kisses mixed with whispering and giggles.
I went to visit a friend this weekend who for all intensive purposes lives with her boyfriend. The level of affection shown was almost unbearable. But I don't know if it is them, or me just being an old married woman who can't possibly understand the need to have a five minute farewell with my husband when he walks out the door, especially if other people are in the room.
Re: NER: Public Display of Affection
lol, unfortunately it was just me Meredith.
Wow, that's totally extreme!!
When we're around people, we do a quick peck on the lips. We're not big PDA people, but we don't shy away from slight affectionate touches, arms around each other, quick little kisses. No make out! No extended amounts of time!
I'm the wrong person to ask! DH and I are stereotypical midwesterners when it comes to affection, even with each other. I think the only time we hug in public is at the airport when greeting each other...not that that ever happens either.
I'd probably wave from wherever I am and say 'see ya later!'
I'm not big on PDA but H is so we compromise somewhere in the middle. I've become a lot more comfortable showing affection in public than I used to be, and actually it might be a bit much for some of you. In fact, a few times we've accidentally called one another our pet names in front of people. Mortifying!
There is definitely such a thing as too much, though. For example, my brother and his girlfriend (who I hate) giggle and sit on each other's laps and don't talk to anyone else, and at more than one party they've been caught making out in the bathroom (and my bro is 26). Gag.
We're not big PDA people... just a quick peck or hug in public. No makeout sessions.
By the way, when you wrote "for all intensive purposes," I think you meant "for all intents and purposes." Not trying to be snarky, but I see this mistake a lot, so I thought you might want to know.
I would have said "Love you!" and done a quick peck on the lips. But we usually dont make out every morning before work anyway lol
As far as PDA in general, we hold hands, do pecks on the lips or put our arms around each other, but no making out/fondling each other in public. Thats weird.
Hm. We are an affectionate couple, no doubt. We hug a lot and hold hands and touch each other and sit close on the sofa and stuff. But a 5 min. tongue wrestling kiss while others are watching? No maam.
