Birthday ideas?
DH's 30th is in June and I would like to do something special. Unless the job situation changes, budget will be tight. I don't want him to fund his own bday celebration. Any thoughts?

Do you have a large property? Or perhaps a park or something that you can rent cheaply?
Maybe have a pot luck with all his friends and they BYOB. Even if you have a BBQ and provide the meat and the friends bring salads and desserts.
The 19th is a great day! DH's bday is July 19, and mine is Aug. 19
Hm... well when my DH turned 30 we just went to a nice dinner with his family, but at that time we were still just "dating", and had only been doing so for a few months.
I think something fun to do may be like... a "bar crawl" or something with a bunch of friends. That way it can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be since everyone will be on their own tab. You could do some kind of fun dinner like a big bbq or Mexican theme with margarita machines and "adult" pinatas hung everywhere
- if you or someone you know has a big backyard you could use.
There is a restaurant near my house where you can get these huge 6' burritos and they are pretty cheap. Is there someplace like that near your house? Or you could rent like a taco bar, where the people come and cook at your location? I don't know how much those would run out in your neck o' the country, but they are cheap around here.
If you want to actually host something then doing it pot luck style will probably be the cheapest way to go. You provide the main entree and everyone else brings a side.
And my bday is May 19th!!!
