If you shop there, what are your favorite things?
I feel like I get more junk food than "real" food and am trying to expand my list. Last time I went I got:
- Frozen brown rice
- Fresh garlic-chili rubbed tilapia
- Fresh blueberries and pineapple
- Bean & Cheese Taquitos
- Tzatziki
- Pita chips
- Cheese
- Wine
Re: Trader Joe's
Here are our regulars (organized by store geography):
-eggplant hummus (delicious!). If we're having a party or something: spinach-artichoke dip or spinach dip
-sometimes fake meat, though I'm worried about the processed soy products so we don't get that too often
-cheese for snacking, parmesan cheese, light organic string cheese
-whole wheat english muffins
-no pudge brownie mix (make it with applesauce--low fat, no scary chemicals)
-canned beans: kidney, chickpea, black, can get organic, canned tomatoes and tomato paste (I worry about the BPA but don't see a way around it for now)
-whole wheat pasta, brown rice, sometimes egg noodles if I'm making a casserole
-frozen: always get gyoza (either veggie or shrimp), frozen berries for smoothies/slushies, frozen mixed veg (their stir fry mix is awesome), frozen roasted corn is delicious! I get frozen meat meals for DH, usually something different every time but the new chicken meals (pomodoro, serenada) tend to be more "whole" foods. I also get fake meat chicken nuggets. My weakness
-vanilla meringues (with the cookies)
-TJ's brand tortilla chips and red and green salsas. Their brand pirate booty is pretty good, too, but not so healthy (well, if you can't stop yourself eating it like me).
-wine
Also we get a lot of whole food staples there: fruit for snacks (apples, bananas, berries, sometimes pear or kiwi), veggies for cooking and snacking (cucumber, carrots, onions, potatoes, garlic, shallots, sometimes bagged lettuce, but I sort of hate salads). Of course, those depend on whether I've been to the farmer's mkt or not. Also butter, milk, sour cream if we need it, sometimes yogurt (I tend to not like it, but I'm trying to get into it). Also eggs (best prices!)

I do 95% of my shopping at Trader Joe's, so most of my normal list is boring items (milk, eggs, cheese, etc). Some favorites in our house:
Hummous
Spinach Salad with cranberries, walnuts, & cheese (can be a meal if you add some grilled chicken)
Orange Chicken
Frozen Mango Cubes
Mochi
Egg Rolls
Tamales
Taquitos
Chicken Nuggets (DH's favorite late night snack)
Roasted Red Pepper Soup
