can't believe I'm going to ask this...
.. but talk to me about charting? No, we're not TTC yet. Like I've said, we're waiting till after our st. thomas trip next may. I wouldn't even mind coming home pregnant lol.
I want to get off the pill at the very least 6 months before, if not longer. But I'm curious about the whole temping/charting stuff. Wasn't there a book some of you girls read?
And is it true that you need to have so many hours of sleep in before you temp? And temp at the same time everyday? Thats so hard for weekends. I'll set my alarm then go back to sleep, thats fine. But it'll have to be between 5-530am. If that whole 'so many hours of sleep' thing is true, then it could be a problem if we go out or something. Does one or two mornings mess up your whole chart? so much to learn in just a year lol.

Re: can't believe I'm going to ask this...
sign up for fertilityfriend.com has lots of useful information.. also, Taking Charge of your Fertility is the book you can read which also has great info!
If it weren't for charting and ovulation predictor test i dont think i would be pregnant right now. My cycle is alll out of whack and it took me a few months to figure out ovulation and all that. Fertilityfriend.com helped a lot too.
Taking Charge of Your Fertility, can't remember the author right now, it's upstairs, and I'm lazy, lol. It was interesting.
I also use fertility friend (dot com), a website to keep track, and it has a little free course on charting. I temp same time everyday, even though I don't wake up that early every single day. After a week or two, you barely wake up to take your temp and fall back to sleep easy.
Before the pill, my cycle was never a BIG problem. So I'm really hoping it goes back to that. I'm just really really going to miss how predictable the little friend is lol. I hate walking around paranoid not knowing when it'll start. BUT its what needs to be done lol.
I'm thinking going back to sleep should be fine. Since I can hit the snooze in my sleep for a half hour now, what else can I do in my sleep. ;-) lol.
::crosses fingers that I never have to chart::
I'll stick to the old fashion way unless issues arise.
Not bashing anyone, but I think it's hilarious how this is almost considered a pre-req to getting PG on the Nest.

charting will definetely help that! It might be off a day or 2 but you definetely are more aware after a few months of charting
I would think if you never had a problem with your cycle before the pill, you shouldn't take long to go back to that. I hope you react just fine off of it. My cycle was never fine, only when I was on the pill, so I'm all messed up. Fertility Friend even got confused last cycle, lol. I kind of can tell when AF is coming up off the pill, especially since reading that book and such, because you are more aware of the little changes in your body at different times of your cycle.
Yeah my cycle was always out of whack before the pill. I got my period when I was 14 once and then not again until i was 15 and then i would skip months here and there. it was ridiculous. After the pill I had cycles ranging from 36 days - 47 days luckily i didnt have PCOS or anything, just longer cycles with sporadic ovulation days. what can i say.. AF was on her own schedule lol
I agree to a point. Before the nest/knot, I never heard about charting and all that comes with it. I'm not going to depend on charting whole heartedly. Its more of a curiosity thing. If it comes naturally to me, I'd like to try it after a baby to avoid pregnancy instead of going back on the pill.
I haven't ever stuck to the exact same time for the weekends. I got pregnant by charting! The first thing I do when I wake up is take my temp. It's a habit now after 9+ months. If you can use FertilityFriend.Com I learned so much about my body just from temping. When I will start, ovulate, when I am going to get bitchy, what day my period is coming etc.
I started to read TCOYF and I couldn't get through it. It was sooo boring to me....but I know a lot of other girls love the book.
I agree with the PPs, read the book and use the website!
Andrea, I never heard much about charting before I was on here either, but for obsessive planners like me, it was nice to know exactly what was going on so that I could be even more obsessive! Lol!
Lol!
And I'm not knocking it at all. I'm sure it's great and super helpful in a lot of situations. It's just funny how the Nest, in general, is obsessed with it. Prior to the boards, I think I heard of it briefly in the context of NFP, but that's it. Here, it's pretty much unheard of to be TTC without charting. Which is funny in itself since people have figured out a way to get PG long before thermometers and the internet! lol
Maybe it's just because people on the Nest are more likely to be obsessive planners in general? I'm totally one of them (just not when it comes to babies!)

lol i'd have to agree after reading some other boards (which shall remain nameless) i've seen girls have come on posting that they were TTC and being scoffed at or blown off bc they weren't charting so according to others they weren't REALLY ttc.
I did the book and the website...(doh, i just realized I wasted a bunch of my subscription time...just put it on hold. I swear there was a way to transfer it to someone else?)
Could have probably gotten by with just the fertility friend tutorials, but I like the book. Also really liked knowing what was going on with the body. I charted for 4-5 months, and we got pregnant after TTC for just a few. I think eventually I might have just been able to go off of mucus/discharge consistency...since my cycles are usually pretty regular.
I have to agree. Also not bashing, but unless there is a problem, have fun with it!! It can become a part-time job. I'd only recommend charting if there is a problem.
