PW: 174

Diet is failing.  Cutting too much, then binging.  Back on the wagon today.  So far, so good for Day 1 Redo.  Even got some exercise in.  And chucked the Chips Ahoy - since I can't stop at one serving.

It's so fricken hard.  I get stressed and I just want to eat something.  Maybe I need some anxiety meds instead.  Or I need my husband to get his job and the banks to decide on my offers.

Re: PW: 174

  • It's hard, I know! I'm such a stress eater myself. . . Not that you have a ton of time, but I have found that exercise really really helps me feel better, which cuts down on the binge eating. Even when I have to drag myself kicking and screaming to the gym, I'm always glad I went. I hope J's job starts soon, and your offer is selected!

I second this.  And not to get all "this is what works for me" because we're all different, but I get up early and work out or take H on stroller walks at a fast pace after work.  And then Fridays are "binge nights" which to me equals dessert night.

  • Try Extra gum if you have a craving...They seem to like it on the biggest loser...I always chew gum when I know I shouldn't be eating, but want something to do.

You can also try drinking 8 oz of water...that seems to help trick your body too!

Good luck!  No falling off the wagon anymore!

  • I just want to add that you should do as I say and not as I do. Because I totally whined about being tired and my allergies bothering me to keep N from trying to drag me to the gym tonight. And then when that wasn't looking like it was going to work, I took off my clothes. . . That did the trick! Also good for stress, I must say ;)
  • I've been doing The Daily Plate (through Livestrong) vs. counting points... we'll see... and trying to eat 'cleaner'-ha!  So far, instead of losing/gaining the same 2 lbs, I went down 4!

When I ate an 800 calorie meal at Olive Garden, I think the computer went into shock!  I think I did, too!  Amazing what things like that will do to you...

and knowing the calories is why I don't go to Cinnabon anymore...

    HTH!

  • I echo everyone's suggestions.  So, instead of repeating I'll just add another...

I find it very helpful if I plan out what I'm going to eat for each day, and even though it may seem boring, keep my meals relatively the same on a day-to-day basis.  It takes the guess work out of eating so you're not scrambling for a meal/snack and don't have that window of opportunity to eat something outside of your diet plan.  It makes my meals a habit, I don't have to devote mental energy to them anymore.  For example, if you read any of my Dine posts my breakfast, snacks, and lunches are usually the same everyday.  Dinner is where I mix it up because I have the most time to plan for it (thinking of something the night before or during the day).  It makes grocery shopping easier and healthier for me too.  I also cook all my own food and bring snacks/lunches to the office each day to keep me on track, but I'm sure you can also incorporate pre-packaged or restaurant items in this as well if you regularly eat out.

  • Sorry, Aria. Sad I can't give you advice as far as weight watchers, etc, but whenever I go through phases of eating a lot I always ask myself why. Am I trying to fill some other void? Do I not have enough sensory pleasures in life that I have to resort to cookies and brownies? And then I think about what else I can do to put some good things back into my life -- more sex, more yoga, a trip to a museum, more music, a glass of wine, etc.
  • All good advice.  You guys are awesome.

I think that at this point it is just about discipline.  Saying no to stress eating and sticking to the plan.  I have the good foods pre-bought and ready each day.  I am sneaking in walks at lunch time and to and from the office.  I'm drinking more water and watching less tv.

But then there's some fire I need to put out at work or at home and I tense up and think...chocolate would help... and I give in.  At first, one is not enough.  Later 2 is not enough.  Then 3 is not enough.  Then binge-city.

So, I have removed all chocolate (except my breakfast fiber plus bars) and am trying to keep my eye on the prize.  I need to post a pic on my vision board!
