greek yogurt eaters

What brand/flavors do you buy? I tried some Chobani honey flavor today and BLEEECH! It tasted like thick, sour milk. And it left a nasty film in my mouth. The texture is weird too...like if you whipped cream cheese. I don't know if it's just this brand or if greek yogurt is not for me!

Re: greek yogurt eaters

  • Yeah, the Chobani Honey flavor IS yucky.  However I have found a greek yogurt in a honey flavor that is FABULOUS.  It's called Fage, and it is WAY better than Chobani, I think.  It had REAL actually honey in it's own seperate spot that you can scoop into the yogurt, it's freakin fantastic.

  • Ha! The honey is my favorite. But I like the kind of tangy weird flavor to it. Do you have Trader Joes?  They have a brand that's pretty good.
  • I also like the plain Fage with the honey on the side. I toss in some walnuts or pecans, too. I also like it without honey but with fresh fruit mixed in. Strawberries, mangos, blueberries. . . It's good with frozen blueberries mixed in as well :).
  • I do the vanilla Chobani or the peach chobani.

With vanilla, I add cinnamon and a 1/2 packet of Stevia or sweetner.  I also add a little cereal for some texture other than 'stick to my tongue'.

Not sure if you have any Wegman's near you, but their store brand is supposed to be good.

  • I like both Fage and Chobani.  I tend to buy Fage these days.  I just buy plain and put my own fixins in if I feel like it (fresh berries, pomegranate seeds).  The yogurt is a great base to add whatever you want.  If I'm in the mood for something sweet, but don't want to indulge in a dessert, I get creative with the yogurt--it's good with some Trader Joe's Midnight Moo, or cinnamon/brown sugar, or pumpkin pie spice/brown sugar, etc.  Greek yogurt can take some getting used to.  It has a kind of sour/tangy flavor and a different texture.  There are tons of brands out there...it's really up to you for what you're looking for.  Oikos is pretty good.  I thought the Trader Joe's kind was just ok.

This was my reaction too.  I tried a few different kinds and flavors and it just wasn't for me.  Then again, I don't like milk either because of the mental sour/chunky possiblity.
  • Im with the other FAGE Honey eaters! Its soooooooooo good! I love it!

The Fage cherry is bomb as well!

  • Ok, so today I added some honey to it (I bought 2 containers of it) and the taste & texture were MUCH better! Still a little freaked by the after taste though, I'll have to try some other brands I guess!

They Trader Joes brand is good and as PP has said Fage is good too, which is also sold at TJs.  Greek Yogurt should not taste like sour milk but yogurt in general does have a sour-ish taste to it.

Try another brand and see if you like it.  Also, try it in a smoothie, I blend milk, greek yogurt and frozen berries together and it is so yum!

I loooove the TJ's honey. So tasty, but TJ's in NYC is miserable so we rarely go. :(
