Do you have a window in your bathroom?
If so, what type of covering do you have on it?
What do you have on the wall above the toilet? (eg: cabinet, artwork, etc)
What type of hanging hardware do you have & where? (large towel bar by the tub/shower, small towel bar, hook, ring by the sink, etc.)
(If you can't tell, I'm trying to sort out the rest of the bathroom. LOL We installed a large towel bar beneath the window when there previously was just a ring next to the tub/shower surround. I removed the hooks behind the door and there was a towel bar above the toilet immediately next to a ring.)
Re: Bathroom Decor Poll
In the master bath, we have a window with two window panels. If need be, they can be pulled together to cover the window. We have a towel bar but it's actually between the toilet and the sinks. We have "decorative" towels there, not for everyday use. The tub is underneath the window and the shower stall is next to the tub. there really isn't a place to put the towels, so we just rest it on the tub right before we hop in the shower. (I am one of those people that wash the towels after every use)
ETA: Pictures
This is the tub area, there are not curtains on the window and two pictures on the open wall to the left
Our master bath is two rooms : the shower/toilet room and the sink/tub room. Both have windows. There's a really big window behind our tub that has blinds on it (cordless pleated window shades to be exact). There's an arched/semicircle window over top of the large window with nothing over it. In the other room, there is a window behind the toilet with the same window shades and a valance. No artwork above the toilet because of the window. We have one large towel bar by the shower, one on a wall by the tub (and another on the wall behind that - I think I need to take a pic to explain this better). We have a hook on the door where MH hangs his towel. And we have a large bar beside the sinks where we hang two hand towels.
I think that's it...I'm sure that did not help at all though because I'm confused reading it and I live there....
I found a pictures of our downstairs bathroom (read, guest bath)
I must have a thing for decorative towels, because that's what we have hanging above the toilet. We also have two pictures in here that you can't see and have a swag like curtain now hanging there too.
Our closet is connected to the bathroom and there is a window in there. We just have plain white blinds on that window.
There is a towel bar right over the toilet. The shower has a small piece of wall next to it and we have a towel hook there. That's where I hang my towel and MH hangs his on the towel bar attached to the sliding glass door. Then we have a stand up towel holder on the bathroom counter for face/hand towels.
Melanie, this is basically our bathroom set up except we have one sink, not the double sink and the tub/shower would be to the right (where you can't see in the pic) of the window. (There's also a corner cabinet to the right of the toilet between it and the wall.)
We currently have a plain blind in the bathroom, but now it's just giving me the "You should have something more decorative here" look. LOL
Our window is smaller and not recessed, so we hung the big towel bar directly below it (~4" below it). We are hanging all of our towels there (they hang ~8" off the ground then; there's a vent there so the heat blows up and it's kind of nice when it's one to have a warmed towel. LOL)
The mirror we bought is smaller than the one that was there. So now I'm not sure what to do with the space above the toilet other than a towel bar with decorative towels (although we don't have any and I don't want to waste the space.
)
I've been meaning to take pics... and might have to just suck it up and do it tonight.
Ugh, I hadn't thought about towel racks.
We'll have a window by the toilet and that will have white wood blinds on it.
I have to go to the little shop w/the racks I want...They look like hands holding the rack/toilet paper holder...one is a finger that acts as a hook. The finger creeps me out though. I wanted those for our downstairs half bath, but Mike said no way to the price ($45/piece). I know it's ridiculous, but they're so cool!
.: Diary of a Recovering Runner :.
It sounds kind of creepy... LOL
We went with brushed nickel/stainless (whatever it actually is... the brushed silver finish. LOL)
We have the one large mirror in all our bathrooms (except the half bath of course) too. I'm not a fan. When we get to the point where we are ready to redo our bathroom, I'm going to change all the mirrors.
