Look at what I found :)

Every year, these are the FIRST things that pop up in our yard. I don't even know what they are, but I love them. We never planted them, they were here when we moved in. They open up towards the sun during daylight, and by evening when the sun starts going down, their petals have closed and they look like tulips.

I love finding them every year, among the dead leaves scattered everywhere and the barren sticks littering the floor. They are a beautiful reminder that Spring is on its way :)

  • Those are really pretty!
  • I think they are crocuses.  When I was little my g-mom told me that was how I knew Spring was coming.
  • Those are very pretty, wonder what they are?!! I can always tell Spring is on the way when I see the forsythia blooming.

I just Googled Crocus images and it looks like you're right. What an ugly name for a beautiful flower... "crocus" makes me think of a giant toad lol.

Yes, crocus. & your g-mom was right, they are always the first sign of spring. If we get a warm day or two up here they'll even bloom through the snow. So pretty!

Daffodils are second & come right before my birthday, so I get really excited to see those.

  • Your flowers made me smile :)

Thank goodness for signs of spring!!!!

My crocus story- I planted some bulbs around some of trees several years ago.  I had NO idea how small there, cute as they are, I was sooooo disappointed when they first bloomed.  I had in my mind they'd be the size of tulips or something!

  • i have those too. crocus right? i wish they grew talker though b/c you can't see them very well from the sidewalk.
