Anyone have any good recs for bedroom furniture? We love Pottery Barn, but it's so stinking expensive, Costco looks nice, but they don't have many pieces available to see in person, Crate and Barrel is expensive AND much of it isn't real wood and you have to put it together. Thoughts? We are continually checking out Craigslist.
Re: Bedroom furniture?
world market would probably be up your alley; check west elm and cb2.com as well!
definitely check out world market. our dining table, coffee/sofa/side tables, and media cabinet are all from world market. some pieces are definitely better than others. i'd say our dining table is the best quality for the price.
and i'd sooo hit up the PB outlet. you score some good furniture deals there!
Furniture stores have sales all the time (nearly every 3 day weekend). We found some reasonably priced stuff at Star Furniture and were really happy with the sales price.
Garden Ridge has some surprisingly nice headboards if you want to add a headboard to other CL finds.

i don't know what kind of furniture you're into, but we bought a couple of pieces (including bed and some side tables) at http://www.austinauction.com. i think the auction we bought our stuff at included reproduction furniture (looks like an antique but is newly made).
eta: the bed looks like this, and if i remember correctly, i paid around $400 for it (queen size):
