LOST post (spoilers)

One word to sums up last night's episode for me: meh.

I mean, ok, we got some closure on Ben, but I don't really give a crap about Ben.  Who's with me?  I guess we finally know what side he's on (good, not evil).  You know the science teacher who helped him hack the email account?  Was he a passenger or something in the past?  Have we seen him before?

The part about Richard being touched by Jacob was decent, and the submarine at the end was cool.  However, DH was talking to me (he knows this is forbidden during LOST) from the kitchen and I missed the last two lines of the show! W hat did the one dude say to Widmore and what did Widmore say back?

Re: LOST post (spoilers)

  • The guy on the sub said something about there being people on the beach, should we stop?  Widmore said no, keep on going.  Or something to that effect.

    Science teacher is this guy

I'm thinking there's more to the Ben story.  He's the only one from the Sideways world (so far, I think) that had been to the island.   Anyhow, his character has kind of grown on me, but gah, I'm ready for some answers already!

  • Yeah, I agree on the 'meh' - I remember thinking at the end that it was kind of a time waster episode.  The lost-reviews blog had it dead on for me, with the only really interesting part being that little piece when Alana and Sun were talking about the candidate thing.  Oh, and the closing scene where everyone hugged all happy was cute, I guess.

Ditto on being ready for answers! 9 episodes left!

  • btw, does anyone else read Ack Attack?  Her full recaps (posted on Sundays) are pure brilliance and completely hilarious (and she knows a helluva lot about the theories, symbolism and such).  I look forward to her posts almost as much as Lost!
  • Wasn't the science teacher the guy the blew up from the dynamite?  (Probably in the link above.)

I agree - meh.  I was wondering where Rosseau was and was wishing they would show her.  I felt bad for flash sideways Ben.  I was also glad he didn't die in this episode either.  Part of me wants him to stay around.  Although I'm not sure I'll like him as much if he isn't cunning and evil.

I did like the Black Rock part.  And was glad we found out something about Richard.  But overal - I'm really ready for some real answers.

Do you think Locke knows Whidmore is coming?  Also - is that who Jacob was referring to at the lighthouse?  How did Whidmore finally find the island?

My theory is that Widmore made a deal to trade places with MIB/Locke.  This way, MIB/Locke gets off the island and Widmore gets to stay and be the keeper of the island.

  • I actually liked last nights episode- although it is really bothering me that they have ignored Jin for two episodes now...

Ben has always intrigued me- plus he is the first character that we have seen make a different decision then he would have on the island. He saved Alex, on the island he doesn't.

Two things I was left with after the episode:

they are DEFINITELY setting up good vs. evil.

Kate is with Locke to bring back Sawyer. Remember that Sawyer has not been "infected" he is just hanging with Fake-Locke. I think next week they will bring Kate and Sawyer together and the two of them will hightail it to the good side of the island.

last thought- I will never forgive the writers if Sawyer ends up on the evil side. I heart him.

That depends on how you look at it.  To me the parallel for him was that he did not kill Alana (sp?) and he decided to go back with ther, when in the past he probably would have shot her and gone with Locke.  In both "lives" he surrendered his desire for power and therefore was redeemed if you will.

  • very good point!  I can't believe I missed that Surprise

  • didn't see this episode until last night - sorry i'm late on this!

i'm confused by the timeline. ben and his dad were on the island. when did they leave? when everyone evacuated right before the bomb thing? if so, that's after sayid had killed ben and brought him back to life. which would mean parallel-ben has been "changed" by the island, right? i still want to know what that means.

so widmore found the island, even though it's been moved? impressive.
