Am I remember correctly that you work for a bank?

I just called my bank (Chase) to see what the interest rates were on their savings accounts and they told me .01% (or something like that)....is that the going rate or really low? I have my current saving thru ING Direct and get 1.11%...was looking for better but am guessing I might not find better right now.

  • I'm a dance teacher.  HA! Stick out tongue

I do know that my wells fargo savings is .02% and that was better than BOA.  Anything past that - I have no clue!

haha...wtf- how did I miss that? I think I remember you saying that sometime before. Things tend to click better for me once I've met someone face to face.

  • I'm not a banker, but I know my bank (credit union, really) usually has much higher rates than regular commercial banks, and our savings is only at .4% right now (.15% on checking).  When loan interest rates go down, so do savings interest rates, and loan rates are some of the lowest ever right now. This is definitely one of those times when it pays more to pay off debts than save for just about everyone :(
We have so much time, and so little to do! Strike that, reverse it.

  • I work at a credit union... but use ING Direct! LOL

Our basic savings is only 0.25% right now.  Our money market account is tiered depending on the amount in the account... starting at 0.95% to 1.15%, still not that great.
