Has Yaz made you feel this way...

I was wondering if anyone else has felt kind of depressed and very emotional while taking Yaz?  I always have been a very emotional person and I initially didn't think anything of it, but lately I have been overly emotional and feeling depressed and I am wondering if it could be the Yaz.

Re: Has Yaz made you feel this way...

  • YES, absolutely. I went on it at the same time I came off an unnecessary anti-depressant, and while I've also always been emotional, this is ridiculous. I'm switching pills as soon as this cycle is over.

  • Yes!!! Yaz is the devil!

I came off of it a noticed a huge difference. I wasn't always starving, wasn't grumpy, and wasn't so emotional!

My friend had the same horrible reaction it to... get off that pill!

  • I just stopped taking Yaz  last month because of these exact reasons. I've lost some weight as well and enjoy not feeling depressed.  My husband is happier as well, as I am not an emotional rollercoaster.
  • Nope!

Too many people are taking YAZ for the wrong reasons. If you don't have diagnosed PMDD, don't take it.

I love how I am on Yaz. Currently I'm on my white pills and Aunt Flo is visiting. No crazy Pitty in sight.

    This stuff rocks.

Oh and I've lost 30lbs while taking the stuff by eating healthier and exercising.

It's not the "devil". That's baloney!

  • It is the devil.

    True story.

  • Then I must be his minion.
  • I had a friend that had a similiar reaction to it.  I also have friends that are on it and love it.

Bottom line, talk to your doctor.  Every person is different and affected by BC in different ways.

  • I was like that for the first 1-2 months.  Then I was fine.
  • This happened to me at first too. I think in actuality though it had to do with the fact my doctor had me on an antidepressant that I didn't need. After the first couple of months the sadness subsided. I was just telling a friend the other day though that I love my birth control, because I don't have cramps or the horrible weepy feeling I always had the days leading up to my periods before. My only complaint with it is that I gained some weight, but even that is now starting to subside now that I've been on it for over a year.

  • Worst pill I was ever on.  I gave it the good old "3 month trial" and it was the worst three months of my life.

There were days that I could not even get myself out of bed to get to work.

  • There some sort of group lawsuit (sorry, the proper term escapes me at the moment) going on right now against YAZ.  My husband saw the commercial & asked me if I used YAZ, which I don't...so I didn't pay much attention to the commercial.  Apparently it's reaking havoc on some people.  I use the Nuva Ring and after being on the several different pills, the patch and shot, it is by far the best BC I've ever used.

This. I loved it, I'm not on it's counterpart, Yasmin and I also love it. Talk to your doc. Also, to the PP, it's called a class action suit and before you go freakin out about blood clots and all that, be advised that all birth control carries those risks. Read the package inserts and educate yourself on what you're putting into your body and the possible side effects. I am continually amazed at people who blindly pump hormones into their bodies and then act shocked when they have a very common reaction.

  • Yes! Yaz was the first pill I ever went on when I was 17, it was the one recommended by my doctor. I not only was an emotional basketcase but was constantly exhausted no matter how much I slept at night. I had a much better experience with Loestrin and the generic version of it, Junel. Different people react differently to different BC, so definitely talk to your doctor about it.
  • It certainly could be your bc. Yaz doesn't bother me, but others have. If your side effects are affecting you to the point where you can't handle them, switch pills. There are so many out there that you don't need to stay with one you don't like!
  • yes.  it's the yaz. i was a total spaz on yaz.  i got off it with a quickness.
  • I started taking Yaz (yasmin here in Canada)a year ago when I had really bad pms and it was affecting my FI&I relationship.
For the last 6 months I've been on it, I've been super emotional, and have had bad breakthrough bleeding. Pretty much getting 2 short periods a month.  Try something else?
My doc put me on Diane35 since it's the same hormones as Yasmin, but different dosage.

  • YES! i was very depressed and emotional while on Yaz. i stopped taking it, you should do the same...
  • No, I agree with another post that says it is really intended for those who suffer from PMDD.  I was a basketcase/nervous wreck before getting on Yaz.  Since starting it, I have been SO much better.  I don't have anxiety attacks anymore, I am not depressed anymore, I barely have a period at all which is GREAT.  I hate to think of trying anything else, or coming off of the pill when we want to get pregnant....I hope my monstrous ways don't return!

  • I have said this before on here, but what a lot of women don't know is a daily intake of Bcomplex will make you feel better. The hormones in BC strip certain natural vitamins in your body which help everything work in happiness. Ask for a great Bcomplex pill and take it daily. Not only will it make your hormones balance better but you'll feel happy!

I'm on Yaz and so far it's good! :)

  • I've been on Yaz for ten months and four months of that I was planning my wedding and then I moved across the country with my fiance after we got married. I was super stressed and fairly emotional during the planning process but I didn't question it because I expected to be under a lot of stress. Now being married for six months I have experienced the worst depression of my life and am just now wondering if the Yaz could have been the problem the whole time.  Anyone considering this bc needs to talk to their doctor much more than I did before trying it.  I will be switching soon but who knows how much I suffered with needlessly?  Don't waste anymore time with it.
