Weight Watchers- thoughts...
Hey ladies! I haven't been on here for a while...just lurking sometimes. Congrats to all the new mommies and soon to be mommies.
Anyways, my friend was telling me to do the Weight Watchers online program with her. Just wanted to see if any of you ladies have tried WW and what did you think of it? Was it easy to follow? Were you able to keep the weight off if you stopped? I figured I'd get some info to see if I should do it.
Thanks a bunches!!

Re: Weight Watchers- thoughts...
I lost 26 pounds (my goal!) on WW a few years ago. I think it's the best weight program a person can do, because it teaches you how to eat for the rest of your life (with balance, moderation, and using healthy foods to fill you up rather than junk), rather than just prepackaged meals that will only work while you get them delivered.
I kept the weight off for about three years (pg now, so we'll see after!). I gained "lifetime" status, which means you don't have to pay anymore as long as you keep going to weigh in once a month. As long as I actually went once a month to check in, I kept it off easily. A few times I got lazy and didn't go for a few months, and gained a few pounds. Whenever I gained more than 5 pounds I would make myself go back every week 'til I got it back off.
There really is no "stopping" the program. Yes, you can stop counting points at some point, and stop going to meetings, but it gets to be an ingrained thing. I'm always automatically mentally estimating point values based on what I learned and trying to balance my day. It's a skill that gets to be a part of you.
With that said, though, I don't think I would have been nearly as successful doing the online program as going to actual meetings. Personally, I need that accountability of a set time and a person who I have to climb on the scale in front of each week. They're not judgmental at all, but I need someone looking at what I'm doing to make me do it! But, of course, everyone's different, and I know the online program can work, too.
Hi there
Yes! I am a huge advocate for WW. I have been on and off of the program for a while... the off I'm not proud of but I have pretty much stuck to it and have had much success. PP is right though, once you are off it's easy to fall down that slippery slope again and meetings are a HUGE help. Plus I always say it's a lifestyle change, not even close to a diet
But it does work if you are 100% committed to the program. My WW best was losing nearly 50lbs and after baby is here I will be heading right back there. If you have any Q's feel free to page me or email (addy in bio).

I found success with WW as well! At my lowest, I was down 15 pounds in about 4 months and was the healthiest I'd ever been! I didn't do the online version, though. I found the meetings very inspirational and motivating. They also helped me stay accountable. I like how WW is a LIVE-it, not a DIE-t. It definitely was an eye-opening experience. I had NO IDEA what I was putting into my body. I gained invaluable awareness. I won't lie...it was difficult for me the first few weeks, but I think the same could be said of any true lifestyle change.
I plan to get back with the philosophy after baby comes.
i think it's a great starting point to train yourself what portions really look like and weighing food, etc. i'm not a fan of a lot of the processed food they promote. i found that i lost a lot more when i cut out processed food/junk and ate unlimited natural whole foods and good oils.
i think the program gives you a lot of flexibility for real world situations too, like eating out, etc.
i say go for it, check it out and see if you like it. i liked doing all the label reading to count points.

Count me in as another WW advocate. I started on the diet with my hubby about 8 months before our wedding. I didn't have alot to lose, but I definitely wanted to change my eating habits. My hubby definitely needed it more, and I felt like my participation helped him stay on track. I did the online version, just because I am pretty disciplined. However, a friend of mine who had more weight to lose swore by going into weekly meetings.
For me, I just made sure that I wrote down every little thing in the food journal they give you. I found that writing it down MADE me accountable. Some people can still lie to themselves that way, and it would be better to be accountable by going to meetings.
The best part about it is what everyone else has said. It helps you conceptualize portion sizes by assigning Point values to everything. I found that having a concrete number of how many points I was allowed and equating that with food was really great. My hubby thought he was eating well by having a foot long tuna sandwich from Subway. What he didn't realize is that tuna sandwich was just as bad a a double cheeseburger and fries...maybe even worse! That realization really kicked him into gear....and so far he is down about 20 lbs. in 6 weeks.
Thanks for all the advice ladies!
For the most part I eat pretty well but I have a ridiculous sweet tooth. If WW can help me figure out how to not eat so much sweets...I'm all for it!
. My portion sizes probably aren't correct either. I'll probably try it out...can't hurt.
Thanks again!
I love Hawaii!
