A friend just messaged me that she drove by our new house and that we should take down the 'for sale' sign. Do we do that? And when??

If you haven't closed the house isn't sold and it isn't your property. Would be up to the current owners to deal with the sign. If the deal is signed, you could probably talk with the agent...though they are probably gonna want a little advertising time if they can get it.
Ours said SOLD on it once we were under contract.
