So I finally broke down...

and called the police on her last night.  I don't really care if she says she can hear us, because I'm convinced she's full of sh!t.

Yesterday her music woke us up at 6:30 AM.  When we got home it was even louder.  Eric even pointed out that our TV volume on reset, even though no one listens to it at that level, was barely a whisper in comparison to her TV and music combo.  So in order to hear our own we would have to more than double the volume.  I went to get something from the car and could hear her subwoofer from the street.  Mind you we're in a long apartment so we're set back pretty far from it.

I had already researched the noise levels in our area before calling.  When they came, the officer had to pound on her door multiple times before she ever heard him.  When they told her a neighbor had complained about the noise she asked which one.  That makes me think that she's received complaints before.

Nothing changed though.  By 6:45 this morning, her music had already turned my bed into a vibrating one.

  • We had a neighbor like that.  The cops did nothing.  = /  Eventually we had to move.

Hopefully you can get something done about her.  Can the landlord do anything?  Have you checked your lease about noise level?

  • We had neighbors like that and they weren't even next door, they were a house down and across the street. Every Saturday night they would have their music blasting until 4am. DH used to have to work on Sundays so he would be livid. I just kept calling the cops. I would call at least twice a month. Thank God they just moved out last month. I don't know if the cops told their landlord about the complaints (I know we weren't the only ones that called) or what. I say keep calling the police and talk to the landlord...good luck I know it sucks

  • Can you talk to some other neighbors, get together, and collectively complain to the apartment complex manager / landlord?

  • I would definitely bring this up to your landlord. Make sure to put it in writing too. That way they can put it in her file. Also if you have anything from the police bring that to your property manager too. GL!!

  • We had that problem with a neighbor and we called the security from the apartments...they had a rule that is you get called I believe it was more than 3 times you get kicked out of the complex.

So bu the second time we called she gave us her phone number to call her when we were going to go to bed so she could turn the volume down...and it worked =)

  • Just be careful with that.  My SIL and BIL have a neighbor like this.  All the neighbors kept complaining to the cops.  Eventually the cops said they all would get fined for calling so much regardless of that buttnugget making all the noise.

I hate people like that...it's very disrespectful.  If I'm feeling the need to play my music loud, I always call my neighbors to see if it's bothering them since we live in attached town houses.

  • I agree with talking to your landlord. I hope everything works out for you guys!

  • Yeah I think the next step is to call the landlord.  I know it's not an excuse but he just lost his wife and we didn't want to bother him.  But I know we can't do that for long.
