My dumb @** family strikes again!

So, we all remember my aunt who dropped her kitten off at the shelter a few months ago because it had "too much energy?"

Well, NOW my stupid cousin who is a year older than me, married to a big loser of a husband (who is almost her dad's age) and has 5 children just got a puppy. She can barely afford her children and says she got the dog for her son, who is 4.. I'm so pissed right now I can barely stand it and I'm trying not to tell her what a piece of dumb white trash she's turned into. I did tell her to remember to get the dog spayed but I'm sure she won't and as soon as it grows out of it's cute puppy stage, she'll get rid of it because that's what always happens with her family. I just feel so bad for the poor dog and wish I was there because I would go steal it. GAH, I just had to vent, Dh and all of my co-workers are probably sick of me b*tching about it.. Angry

Re: My dumb @** family strikes again!

  • That poor puppy... Maybe the kids will fall in love and take care of it.  That happened in my family once.  My mother had to have this dog (we already had two black labs- more than enough for us- and she adopted a fat Italian Poodle from family who was leaving the country and couldn't take him), and she was in love with him for about a month before she got annoyed at having to take him for walks because he couldn't be left outside with the labs, and having to trim his fur every few weeks, and actually bathe the dog when he got dirty.  The poor thing suffered for a few weeks after that, and actually had accidents in the house before I realized he was being neglected and took charge of him.  I fed him, watered him, took him outside, bathed him, trimmed his fur, clipped his toenails, and let him sleep with me at night.  I was ten.

Some people just want to do what the want to do, just because.  And you can't tell them anything.  (As we say in the south- "You cain't tell her nothin', she ain't gonna listen no-how so jes save yer breath.")  I feel bad for her kids and especially for the puppy, I hope at least one of them is old enough to take pity on it and take care of it.

My family can be pretty obnoxious, too, I know how you feel.

  • Hey Crys!  I am sorry that you are having more family-pet strangeness. How are you doing otherwise?  I  feel like I never catch you on the board anymore.

  • Ugh I'm sorry, they really suck :-(

  • Ugh. What kind of puppy is it? I hope it's a sturdy breed with those 5 kids in the house!

    I wish they'd pass a speuter law...

  • Ugh, that is annoying.  I have a friend who is generally very sensible and kind -- but has twice made the mistake of getting a dog without putting in the necessary effort and has had to give them up.  She has blamed both of the dogs, which drives me crazy.
  • Ugh, I feel so sorry for you and the poor doggie.  It's so unfair.  Sad

LOL! She would totally get that, my whole family is in the south and are so southern, sometimes I can barely understand them!

And the pup is some sort of large breed mix so it will be sturdy (I'm just praying it doesn't get annoyed with the kids and bite one of them, that will be the end of it, for sure.. ugh..)

And I'm good, Christa, thanks.. I lurk a lot but generally haven't had much to say these days.

  • I feel like I haven't had much to say lately either.
