There is something very wrong with my dishwasher

I just had to hand wash every piece of silverware that I was taking OUT of the CLEAN dishwasher before I could put them away. This is not okay...what's going on?

The reason I want a dishwasher is so that I DON'T have to handwash dishes...it's a thing I can't do. Washing dishes (apparently even if they're clean) makes me gag to the point of throwing up. I don't know what's wrong with me, but I know the dishwasher isn't doing it's job, and I'm not pleased about that.

We rent, so I don't know much about it, but do we need to replace a filter or something? What's going on? Why does the dishwasher make dishes dirtier?

Re: There is something very wrong with my dishwasher

  • It could be that something is clogged and needs to be cleaned out. If you rent I would call and request that someone come out and fix it for you. HTH!

  • try putting in a packet of kool-aid lemonade mix (just the regular little packet).  The citric acid should help de-gunk it.
  • could be the water isn't hot enough, the soap, clogged motor pump, clogged drain tube....   definitely call for service.  but first check on the temp of the water, you don't want to pay for a service call to find out that is the cause!

Whoa...yeah...smart! It takes about 10 minutes or more for our water to heat up. Makes a lot of sense. I'll try some acidic stuff too, thanks Izzy!
