So what do you know about vitamins and what do you take, if any?
Currently, I'm taking a multivitamin, but I keep hearing more and more people say that you should take additional supplements, like Vitamin D and Omega-3 (fish oil), in addition to the multivitamin. I would think the multivitamin would be enough and now I'm confused.
Re: Vitamins
I don't know much about vitamins, to be honest.
I used to take C, E, A, B, and Fish Oils... and then at one point I did a multivitamin.
Now I just take prenatals.
I think that what you take is dependent on your lifestyle. For example: if you have circulation trouble, take Fish Oil. If you want to have nice skin and reduce scarring, take Vitamin E.
The omega fatty acids also help raise your HDL (good cholesterol). I take 2 grams of fish oil everyday for that reason (heart disease runs in my dad's family). Since I started taking the fish oil, my HDL climbed up to 63 - 30 is the minimum recommended level.
I take a OneSource multi, fish oil, & a calcium chew later in the day. The calcium chew has some additional D & K (D is necessary for your body to utilize the calcium). I say a multi everyday can't hurt. What you add on top of that is completely up to you.
I think asking your doctor is a good idea. I do not think you are doing any harm with taking a multivitamin. As previous posters mentioned different people will need different things.
