nuvaring ladies...

If you have Nuvaring, how is your sex drive? Also, how does Nuvaring compare to BC pills in your opinion (sex drive, periods, acne, etc. etc.)?? TIA!

Re: nuvaring ladies...

  • sex drive is perfect. I have had it for a good 3-4 years i think and i love it. I was on Alesse before it and it messed me up to the point where i was scared to go back on BC for over a year.

My periods before i got the Nuvaring were horrible, i would be in bed with bad cramps and i would have to wear at least a heavy flow pad as well as a heavy flow tampon and change them once an hour. Now, i barely get anything. No cramps, and a few drops of blood.

Mood swings are almost non existent, i can't say much for acne because i have always had it but i have not noticed it getting worse.

A lot of people complain that the men feel it while having sex, you can take it out but put it back in once you're done.

  • My sex drive has gone down hill since I switched to the ring.  Before the ring, I couldn't find a pill that worked for me.  I spotted all month and had terrible periods.  However, I had a great sex drive.  Now, I don't spot at all, and my periods are only bad on the first and second day.  My husband never feels it during sex, and it doesn't bother me at all.  It's not like I don't enjoy sex, but I don't really initiate it anymore.  However, I'm really busy and that could also explain the low sex drive.  Overall, I love the ring, except for the price tag.

  • I have only used it for 1 cycle so I'm not the best judge but I love the convenience of it so much more than the pill. It has been great not having to take a pill everyday.

  • I have been on NR for 3 years.

I have had no change in sex drive since switching from the pill.

My periods are about 2 or 3 days long within minimal flow/cramping.

I have no intentions of changing.

  • I have been on NR for 3 years.

I have had no change in sex drive since switching from the pill.

    My periods are about 2 or 3 days long with minimal flow/cramping/pain. ( I don't take Tylenol/Motrin/Excedrin )

I have no intentions of changing.

  • I was on Alesse before the ring, and when I switched my sex drive went up and I lost a few pounds.

However, for me, my periods got a bit heavier.  Before I was on the pill they were horrible, on the pill almost non-existent,  now they're a bit heavier with some more cramping.  For me though, that's a more than fair price for the convenience.  Although, now that I've been on it for 9 months or so, it's staring to lighten up again.

  • i pink puffy heart the NR.  On the pill my sex drive progressively went down and my weight went up (i think part of this was related to the generics).  my doc switched me to Yasmin and i had horrid mood swings and then developed shortness of breath and severe vertigo so bad that one day i had to leave work.  went off everything for about 15 months.  I've been on the NR since the end of November and it's great.  my sex drive hasn't suffered and i no longer have problems getting aroused (i was probably keeping astroglide in business for a while there!).  my partner says he can feel it during foreplay sometimes but not during sex, and either way it doesn't bother him.  i can't feel it at all once i get it in place.  i've only had one period on it (i've been using it continuously to skip periods) but that one was super light.  i had some cramping the first time that i "skipped" but other than that, good to go!

overall, i give it 11 out of 10 stars and highly recommend it.

  • I've been on it for about 9 months and it's been pretty good. The first month was really bad because it was making me very very sick right around the last week of having it in. Haven't had that problem since, anyway I have found a slight decrease in drive, but not too bad at all. Periods are pretty light, with lighter cramps.
  • Thank you everyone! Those answers were so helpful and I appreciate yall taking the time to write them!!
  • I went off of nuva ring 4 months ago because I thought it might be the reason for my cloudy mind. ?And I was right.

    ?

My sex drive is back, sex even FEELS better, and my husband is very happy with that! ?I'm now trying the Fertility Awareness Method, and am very happy with it! ?(Check out, "Taking Control of Your Fertility")

?Nuva Ring was better than Yasmin for me, but not as great as going without a hormonal contraceptive all together.?
