Fvck you, Bill Clinton

Sorry, the post title was a bit inflammatory, but seriously -

Speaking at a "change we need" rally for OBC today:

"I'm here because I love my country, and I love this state, and you know we have to change America's course.  I'm here . . . because Hillary sent me."

WTF?  You couldn't say that you were speaking because you believe Obama will bring the change we need?

Update:  I've been listening for like 5 minutes, and I've yet to hear him say Obama's name.  Confused

Edited: because "courts" should have been "course" ::sigh::

Re: Fvck you, Bill Clinton

  • i loved that SNL skit about that.
  • Meh.  No one's forcing the Obama campaign to use WJC.
  • He better be careful that he doesn't become a liability for Hil.  I think she has a really good shot at winning the nomination if she runs again - but people are going to remember if they're disgruntled with the way he behaved in this election cycle.
  • Yeah, I'm pretty annoyed with him, and I looooooove him.?

Ditto.  They don't have to use him, but they continue to do so because people like the Clinton's.  Why else would they?  If Bill, or Hillary for that matter, started gushing about Obama it would seem so disingenuous that I would begin to feel nausea.

  • BIll Clinton comes with a ton of baggage, so am kinda OK with his lukewarm support.
"HOW many US citizens and ranchers have been decapitated in Arizona by roving bands of paperless aliens, and how will a requirement that I have papers on me make that not happen?"courtesy of SueSue
  • Woohoo!

Okay, he's redeeming himself a little:

"This is why you've got to vote for Barack Obama - (1) He's got the right philosphy, he knows you've got to grow an economy from the ground up, not from the top down (2) Obama's answers are better - on economy, health care, education, etc. (3) He's got better understanding, better advisors, and better answers on this economic stuff..."

Okay, Bill.  I take back my fvck you, but you better be on your best behavior from now on. Wink

  • Obama should have known better than to use Bill. I did love him but his behavior throughout this election has been really weird, I think he's gone off the deep end.

    Slainte!

  • NIFTY.

BC is now trying to explain the bailout in "real people" terms, i.e. this isn't about wall street, this about you guys.  About you being able to buy a refrigerator on an installment plan tomorrow, etc.

  • I've really come to terms with WJC not being on board, and I'm over it. He can't turn it around in 34 days, so I'm just going to keep my fingers crossed he doesn't really fvck things up. This doesn't qualify.

  • I am not surprised.  He never really came out to help Gore and definitely was out of the picture for Kerry.  My theory is he will only strongly support his wife and is kind of hoping Obama loses so she can run again in 2012 (just my tinfoil hat theory, nothing to back it up).

I don't think there's anything tinfoil hat about your theory, Tef. And if there is, please. Pass me a hat too and I'll sit with you ;)

I think Bill sometimes believes any other Democrat winning--Gore, Kerry, Obama--will just tarnish HIS legacy.

Think about...he was the only Democrat elected in what, nearly 30 years?

  • It's abundantly clear that he is still bitter that HRC lost. That's fine. It's his spouse. But someone with the political acumen of BC should know better than to praise the Rep ticket while simultaneously giving a tepid endorsement of BO.
  • imagelyssbobiss:
I saw him on the Daily Show and I wasn't impressed.  He still seemed a bit bitter.

mega-dittoes to this. I was, well, incensed is too strong a word, but highly agitated that he sat there, talking to Jon Stewart with his chin in his hand, like he was bored to tears. It just seemed disrespectful. Don't insult the host with your half-assery, just stay home.

  • About the daily show appearance....all I could think "where is the man who played the sax who talked about his underwear?" He looked so out of touch with Daily Show culture. JS kept trying to make jokes with BC and BC was having none of it. It was sad.
  • Wasn't Bill in the hospital or having heart problems durin Kerry's campaign? I remember him supporting Kerry but he wasn't able to campaign for him.

It might be for the better, what with Clinton's connection to the sub-prime mess. It might not hurt to have a little distance from Bill right now.

I thought the same about his Daily Show appearance. He's seemed rather crusty lately--aggitated and defensive. I  kept thinking back to a Letterman interview of his from way pre-primaries where he was relaxed and good-humored--it's like a total 180.
