pet sitting question

How much would you pay someone to house/ pet sit (2 animals) for 8 days/ 7 nights? DH and I disagree on the amount! It would be feeding the dog 2xs/day plus walks and feeding the kitten 1xday plus litter every other day.

Any suggestions?

Re: pet sitting question

  • Great question. I guess it depends on who's doing it. If you're hiring someone you don't know and there's an expectation of being paid, I'd say maybe $200-400. If it's a family member or close friend, maybe less. I'm not sure, it's a tough one!
  • Is the person staying at your house for a week, or are they driving back and forth a couple of times a day?

When we kennel Luk it is $35 a day...so I am thinking that you would need to pay at least that plus more for the care of the cat.  Maybe $50 per day?

  • We payed my bff $250 to stay with the dog & 2 cats while we were gone for 10 days. Hope that helps!
  • We pay a young friend $20 a day and give him the run of the house.

He buys beer, pizza, and invites his friends over.

Luckily, he's REALLY reliable and wouldn't throw a kegger.

We occasionally dog sit a friend's dog and she just drops her dog off with us.  She also gives us $20 a day.

    Good luck!
