Pure Romance for a Bachelorette party?

A friend suggested today that I have a Pure Romance party for my sister's bachelorette party, she is getting married in June.

I've never been to one of these, so I'm not sure if they are any fun or not? I also don't want the guests to feel like they are pressured to purchase anything at the show, unless they want to.

If you have ever been to one before, would you suggest it for a bach. party?

TIA!

Re: Pure Romance for a Bachelorette party?

  • I think it's a know your audience kind of thing.  If you *know* that the bride-to-be and everyone else who will be invited will enjoy a party like this, then I would say to go for it.  I've been to several and had a fantastic time because everyone was into it, joking around and being good sports.  The person who comes in to do the presentation can really make or break things, too, so I wouldn't do it unless you have met him/her first and seen his/her party skills.

But it's the sort of thing that some people can be very uncomfortable around, so I would clear it with the B2B first.

The first one I went to was a bachelorette party for my now-SIL.  It was a ton of fun, although it had a few awkward moments.  Namely when my now-MIL (DH and I were still just dating back then) asked if I wanted her to buy us anything.  Needless to say, I passed on that one!  :D

When it's all said and done, what matters most is your relationships with other people; without good friends and family, what's the point?

I totally agree.  I've been to one with a different company.  It was tons of fun giggling and laughing over the different products.  Some of them were really cool though, and I ordered them for our honeymoon.  But you really should meet the presenter first and clear it with the bride.  If the bride or someone attending is shy, it can ruin the mood of the event. Have fun!

  • I would DEFINITELY suggest it for the bachelorette party, as this is what my MOH did for me.

My MOH took me to a pure romance party a few months before my wedding, then after we had a BLAST there asked me if I would want to do it for my bach. party so I said OF COURSE!

Unfortunately, we didn't get the same girl who did the party I went to before my bach. party, and the new girl didn't have the same "flair." As a PP said, you really have to make sure you get a great person to put the party on, as well as have the right group of friends to make up the audience.

To answer your question: YES. I would definitely suggest it for a bachelorette party. It was definitely memorable for my friends and I, and we had so much fun!!!

As far as our friends feeling pressured to buy things, my hostess (MOH) told them up front that there was no reason to buy anything for me... and I mean, honestly, why would you want to try to buy "novelty items" for someone else. The best part of the party was the fun atmosphere, and it didn't have anything to do with actually getting any of the products.

    GL!

  • I say go for it but don't make it the anchor of the night--be sure to do other things as well.

We had planned to make going to 6th street in Austin the anchor of the night, but the PR party ended up being the best part.. along with my mom's famous meatballs :P

  • My MOH & BM's did one for me and it was fun.
  • I just went to one this weekend and it was the most fun I'd had in a long time. AND the stuff I got was amazing! I love Pure Romance. Their stuff really works!

  • Make sure you find a good person through referrals that is selling it.  Ive been to some good ones and then planned one for my girls one night and the girl was awful!  She kept telling us to be quiet and was trying to rush through to show us every product.  If you get someone good they make it so much fun...and after the presentation plan a girls night out dancing or something.  thats what we always did after the presentation
  • Ah. We had one this weekend as a part of my lingerie shower and we had a blast. Like everyone else said, be sure the bride is Ok with it. It was hilarious to find out some "interesting" things about some of my friends.
  • My best friend had one for her bachelorette party. We had a blast, we made it a whole night thing. We had drinks(which made things a lot more interesting and seemed to help push the akwardness away), and played games. I agree with everyone else, you really have to make sure you have the right girl. Too bad ur in IA...I know 2 amazing PR girls in NC.
  • I had a Slumber Parties fun party, which is basically the same thing. We rented a hotel suite and did that whole thind there. It was a blast! And then we had a sleep over, to go with the whole slumber party theme. Had food delivered and had a cake and snacks there.

  • Thank you for all the advice ladies! I know my sister better than anyone and I know she will have a blast at it, and we are a close group of friends, so I don't think anyone will be overly uncomfortable, but just to be sure I'll put it on the invites to guest know ahead of time.

I'm going to have dinner first at a restuarant, and then head to the party and go out to the bars after, that should be a full fun night for everyone. Thanks again!

  • My friends had one for my bachelorette party. There were snacks, then we went out for drinks at a nearby bar afterwards. Had a blast! The girls were my closest, and all into it. They even gave me money towards "stuff". I was worried I'd get super embarassed, but it was fine. They do everything discreet when it comes to ordering, so theres little room for the embarassment.

  • I would say go for it. Just make sure your representive has references. My friend used one for another friend, and we never got any of the stuff we ordered. If you got your stuff from her cash and carry you were ok, but if you ordered anything you were just out the money.

For my bacholrette party, we rented a hotel suite, and did bpics. My photographer was a women, and she just charged us $25 each for 3 outfits each, and the images were put on disc and mailed to us.  We set one time for those, and a later time for anyone who didn't want to do the pics. It was like 4pm to start pics then 7pm to eat and go out. She got appetizers for the room until everyone was done with pics and the others all got there. It was a blast, and by having 2 times listed, the people who weren't comfortable with the thought of the bpics, could just come when they were over.

  • I've been to them before, and I've had a lot of fun at them.  My BFF is having one as part of her bachelorette in 2 weeks, so we'll see how that goes!
