  • ESF's appetizer post below.

  • I'll cop to having eaten and enjoyed the weinies in BBQ sauce on more than one occasion, but I just can't see Catalina dressing.
  • You probably don't know her.  It was MrsOmer.  She comes to all of the GTGs but she almost never posts. Apparently she reads the boards all day long because she is always up on all of the gossip.

Catalina dressing is like a reddish orange, sort of sweet type dressing.  Similar to the Kraft French or Russian dressings, I guess.  I don't think there was anything else in it, just light dressing and weenies in a crockpot.

What made it the most bizarre was this was a wine tasting party, not a casual barbeque with kids running around.  It was so out of place among the chocolate covered strawberries and brie and other adult food, so it was really funny.

  • Ah, I recognize the name.

    Isn't Catalina like Thousand Island??

  • I always thought Catalina was the same as French dressing.

  • Having tried the weenies, I will say that Catalina is probably somewhere in between 1000 Island and French.  Of course, this was the "light" (or should I say "Lite") version, so it wasn't really creamy.  More like a reddish-orange corn syrup and olestra ooze.

  • This post is affirming my decision not to eat the weenies.
