Pelosi paid husband with PAC funds

Hmm, so much for cleaning up Congress and stopping poor spending practices.  I guess it is only for everyone else?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has directed nearly $100,000 from her political action committee to her husband's real estate and investment firm over the past decade, a practice of paying a spouse with political donations that she supported banning last year. Financial Leasing Services Inc. (FLS), owned by Paul F. Pelosi, has received $99,000 in rent, utilities and accounting fees from the speaker's "PAC to the Future" over the PAC's nine-year history. ----

Last year, Mrs. Pelosi supported a bill that would have banned members of Congress from putting spouses on their campaign staffs. The bill - which passed the House in a voice vote but did not get out of a Senate committee - banned not only direct payments by congressional campaign committees and PACs to spouses for services including consulting and fundraising, but also "indirect compensation," such as payments to companies that employ spouses.

Re: Pelosi paid husband with PAC funds

  • Maybe she wanted an excuse to stop paying her husband? Wink
  • Fail! Like I said on other board, she needs to be done.

  • It really, really hurts me to say this, but I think she's officially been a disaster.

    Ouch. :::sniffle:::

  • *smacks hand on forehead*

    You know what one of the "positive" (I guess?) about this whole financial mess is?

    We really are going to learn about more and more of some of our leaders' financial  "gray areas."

    I wonder how many people are scrambling around on the Hill right now making sure all their i's are dotted, t's are crossed and no one in their family has done anything ridiculously stupid.

    heeheehee

    I love you Marquis

  • And this is why people have zero faith in politicians.  Fabulous.
  • I am disappointed that Pelosi is turning out to be a disaster.  I really wanted more from the first woman to have held her position.  What makes it worse is that I don't think she is even trying to not be a polarizing figure.

    Ditto.  What an embarassment as a woman and as a democrat.  I second the "F".

  • I wanted to like her too, on principle, but I just can't. She's awful. She's ineffective, divisive and now, apparently, corrupt too.
