..... and go!
Aside from it just being Monday, and being back at work, that's the only thing I have to complain about. The weather is gorgeous today, I'm SUPER excited for my leftover Moroccan lentils for lunch, and this weekend is the tour of kitchens! Ok, well it was harder getting up an hour early...
Re: Moody mondays
I have this cold where, despite not taking any medication, I feel like I've been taking too much sudafed. You know the feeling where your sinuses are overly dried out and they consequently ache? Yeah, it's been like that for me since last week. It's not like the air is dry, either. It's pretty much swampville in Chicago right now. Additionally, like with sudafed, I'm having trouble sleeping despite my being exhausted.
I wish it would either turn into a full-blown cold or clear up. This lack of progression is really getting old, and I haven't been running since I started this thing. I think I'm gonna try running tonight for better or worse.
It was unbelievably difficult to get out of bed this morning: no sun and it was an hour earlier. At least the boss doesn't get back from his vacation until Wednesday, so that made it a little easier to come to work.
And then I got a call this morning from a bank in NC, offering to set up an interview for a position that I can't take because DH and I JUST renewed our lease for another 6 months because DH JUST got a new job. Ugh, thanks universe.
Karen - I have been experiencing a similar problem with the cold that never ends. I feel like I've been stuffed up for weeks, but feel even worse about myself if I don't go to the gym, so I've been wheezing my way through my workouts lately. No fun.

i didnt get the 3rd grade job this morning
I talked to the principal for over an hr today and at the end he told me that he got over 200 applications for the job and has been interviewing for days. There's a lady who has over 20 yrs experience and was the director of reading for the county and all kindsa stuff and he says that he's thinking he will choose her because of her experience. I am sooo upset!! He did tell me though that I am one of 3 others that he would seriously consider for next year if a position opens. He told me to keep an eye out for any vacancies at his school starting in May and to email him to let him know I'm interested and he will bring me in. That makes me happy, but still, I would have loved to get in now!
I have the tutoring interview this afternoon, so I'll try my best at that today

LoL, I think I'm going to put bring a mini pouch of kleenex and attach a plastic bag to the treadmill for discarded tissues. Won't that be a sight?
What a good idea! I can't tell you how many times I've had to pause and look around for a paper towel to blow my sad, sad nose on. I'll probably get some funny look, but so what? We're at the gym!

I've used them before... Won't the salt additive dry my sinuses out more, though?
I haven't had luck getting the actual finish to copy in but if you go to this webpage: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S09869703 and select Adel beech for the finish - that is what I'd like to have. What I will probably end up with is the the same style but the Adel White finish instead (which looks more plastic-y in my opinion).
I asked my ENT doc that same question when I was in getting some stuff done (I won't go into details because it hurt and I don't want to go there again!
) but he said that it does indeed help to keep you more moisturized. He didn't go into details so I'm not sure the science but he told me to keep it up.
Oooo! Very Swedish! I like!
Not necessarily. In the past few months of online house hunting, I've stopped looking at the remaining pictures in a listing if I don't like the kitchen...not everyone is picky like us, hough
Boo, sorry about the job foto, but maybe you're supposed to get the tutoring one until an even better position opens up at the school? The principal really seems to have your back, so good luck!
I don't really have a Moody Monday rant, except that I have to be out this afternoon with work and the weather is still crummy. Not too shabby though, Ides of March and all!
I'm so sorry! But it sounds like you still impressed him, and he'll remember your name. Good luck with your other interviews!

Go Get 'em! You're moving out of FL anyway, aren't you? How's the market where you're moving to?
I agree with Munkii! DH and I have been online house hunting, too, and the kitchen is a big deal. Although my #1 house right now needs to have its kitchen redone, it is bad bad bad, the house is so cheap it is worth it. Normally, if the kitchen has gross cabinets I won't even look at it. It is totally worth the investment if you have it, especially since a nice kitchen can get you a lot more money when you are ready to sell.

I am trying to move out of FL. My DH has a transfer to move to either TN or GA, the market isnt that much better, but I have seen some job fairs up in TN and they need teachers. I am not sure when we are leaving, but they say his transfer could take a month or even years, they just have to wait until the position becomes available. In the meantime, I am going to try my best to secure a job here and make some money until we have to leave.

Aside from the fact that it has been raining here for a zillion days straight (ok...like, 5), and I'm so tired even though I went to bed early the past two nights in a row to accommodate the time change, ugh.
BUT (this is long and kind of offensive, so feel free not to read), my co-worker (yes, THAT one) is driving me freaking nuts. I joined the staff gym at work because it saves me $20 a month (sweet!, $15 a month with towel service...yes please!), and she goes there, too. She has started keeping tabs on me! I got in this morning and she IM'd me, "the gym missed you this morning!"
I kind of went off on her a little...something along the lines of "I don't need anyone to keep tabs on my gym going. I motivate myself and like to work out alone, so thanks for caring, but don't worry about me. Thanks."
It progressed from there, such as her suggesting when I should work out based on my pg related symptoms (she is not pg, never has been pg, and likely will never be pg, for the record because she hates kids). Not to mention, I lost almost 85 pounds all by myself 2 years ago and have kept it off, so I really don't need her (very overweight self) telling me how to exercise, k, thanks. I think I know my body.
Not to mention she only knows I'm pg because she overheard me on the phone with my doctor and then had the audacity to ask me. I had zero intention of telling her until later (if at all). I'm transferring offices in just a few weeks but I'm not sure she is going to make it. (Yes, I said she.)

OH SNAP.... That's annoying. So yo have to share, how did you lose the weight before?
It'll still be nice - just not as expensive. The house I bought will always and forever be a starter home because it is teeny tiny so to spend a boat load of money on the cabinetry is just a waste. Just putting in anything new and doing it well will max out the sale-ability of the place. Still planning on some knockout countertops ( can spend some $ on these since there isn't a lot to put in) and great hardware and flooring. It'll look like a million bucks, I just am trying to let go of the cabinets I "want" for the ones I "should" get. Story of my remodel - not putting in the stuff I would necessarily choose for my forever house, but what will make it sell and for the best price.
I'm such a moody b!tch, sorry ya'll. The hormones on top of her usual annoyance factor are just getting to be too much!
Weight loss was just focusing diet and exercise. I tracked everything I ate using Fitday.com and kept my food intake around 1500-1600 calories a day. I worked out like crazy (classes at the gym, elliptical/stair climber, and running). I also walked everywhere I possibly could. I did have a personal trainer to do strength training with, but he wasn't like Jillian Michaels a la Biggest Loser in my face yelling at me. He was useful in getting me comfortable with weights, but I don't know if he was worth the $$ looking back.

That's actually not true at all, you should definitely read all of the information they give you. Once you get to your goal weight, they increase the number of points you get to eat, which makes sense if you think about it - right now you're eating LESS than your body needs to make you lose weight, so once you want to stabilize your weight, you have to bump up the amount you eat to stop losing. If you do the program right, it definitely works. I'm down almost 27 lbs since Christmas. (Also working my arse off at the gym.) If this is your first time with WW you should get on the message boards there for some advice, hints, etc.
Good luck!
Yay, Katie!! That is awesome, in less than 3 months? I'm doing a "go Katie" dance at my desk

Favorite Low Point Snacks... fruit and veggies in general are probably the best bang for your buck. They'll both fill you up, if you need a sugar boost or something sweet, go for fruit, if you're really low on points go with veggies. I love bananas, apples, oranges, prunes, baby carrots (try them dipped in hummus! yum!)
Fiber one bars are a good 2 pt snack (I like the oats & caramel), I eat yogurt (low fat) ALL the time (depending on the brand, usually 2 pts), for dessert I like a Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich (favorites are the peanut butter and cookies and cream) with lite Cool Whip. A Thomas lite wheat English muffin or 100 calorie bagel with hummus or peanut butter is a good energy boost.
For dinner we eat almost exclusively WW recipes. DH has liked almost every one we've tried. (He just eats more servings than I do!) I also just found this blog: http://www.skinnytaste.com/ and we've enjoyed what we've tried from there so far. It has a good search function. Stir fry is almost always low points. Load up on the veggies and use a lean protein (chicken breast, shirmp, pork) and not a lot of oil. Ooooh I also LOOOVE beans. They're high fiber so bring down the point total of a dish, plus really filling.
For lunch during the week I usually have a Lean Cuisine or Amy's Organic frozen meal and a yogurt. I'll bring a piece of fruit or two for snacks. Simply Fruit rollups for 1pt are good. So are Caramel Rice Cakes (1 pt each). You can eat "real" food too, as long as you don't binge, and remember to count it. For example, Thin Mints are only 1 pt each. BUT they're not going to fill you up like 1 pt worth of carrots would. So, you have to figure out the balance that works for you.
Hope this helps!
