Most assinine bumper sticker winner
I may have found him...
On my way to lunch I was driving behind a guy with two bumper stickers. One said "Drill here. Drill Now. Pay Less." Ok, I disagree, but whatever. It's not like a bumper sticker has ever changed anyone's mind.
The other one had a little picture of the twin towers in the middle and one side said "Never Forget" and the other side said "who started it."
Oh, and he was driving a Ford F350, if that helps the visual.
Re: Most assinine bumper sticker winner
I work at a cancer research center, full of scientists who usually lean WAY left. There was a car in the visitor's lot the other day - a red BMW sportscar - with a bumper sticker that said:
REPUBLICAN: because not everyone can be on welfare
I damn near keyed the thing.

I honestly believe that if more people could get past the blue state-red state issue, people would see that moderate Republicans actually are sane people who support some sane policies. The problem is that there is an entire wing of our party full of people who spout garbage like that bumper sticker and honestly believe it. They are louder than the moderates and just make us all look bad. I loathe those people as much as liberals do.
Edited to change "Dems" to liberals. I do not assume they are one and the same. :-)
I saw that "Drill here..." bumper sticker on a gigantor SUV lately, too! It was accompanied by a big "W" sticker on the other side. Of course.
You and my husband should commiserate. He's so annoyed with the fringe of his party that he no longer refers to himself as Republican. There's crazies on both sides, but it seem the crazies on the right have more power in their party.
IIOY, I totally know what you are getting at. Both of my parents are repubs and are very kind people (although truthyfully they'd actually love that bumpersticker). But I do not think that all republicans believe that all democrats want welfare for all. I also agree with Elizabeth81 that some of liberaly loonie stickers are cringe-worthy too. It's idiots like these who help perpetuate the extreme stereotypes of each party, and do a disservice to the discourse.

Trust me, I have many days where it gives me heartburn to admit that I'm a registered Republican. And you are correct - the insane have taken over the Republican asylum, at least during Bush's two terms. The fact that the fringe is starting to lose its grip on power gives me hope...
