Favorite thing about NY State
Just trying to get the board rolling a little...
I LOVE the four seasons and the state parks for each of those seasons!
Even though the taxes are high, I like that the school systems are high quality and that I will never have to debate whether I should send my children to a private school, because the public school here is wonderful!
Syracuse Basketball! So Orange on your first seed!
Re: Favorite thing about NY State
I love that we are in driving distance of so many great places - NYC, Boston, Canada.
I love the 4 seasons, especially autumn, also, and that we don't have to worry too much about really extreme weather conditions - hurricanes, tornados, etc.
I love not having crazy weather. I'm terrified of tornados.?
I like being close to lots of things - NYC, Cape Cod, VT, mountains, etc.
The main reason I live in NY is because my family is here.
Definitely the 4 seasons, and also the Finger Lakes- especially the wine trails. What a treasure so close to our own backyards.
I also love how close we are to NYC, Toronto, Boston, Philly, etc.
Lots of big cities are within a long-weekend getaway distance.
I also love the four seasons. I can't imagine a Christmas with 70 degree weather or a summer with 110 degree temperatures. And I'm also glad that the worst we get is a random snow storm as far as extreme weather.
I also love it because that is where both of our families are. I know some people have family in other states but for the most part our immediate families are local which I truly appreciate.
The 4 seasons are my fave. (even though winter seems to last a little too long!
The taxes are a bit high, but real estate is so reasonable.
I love that there are lots of farms so close to our cities; we can get fresh produce that's not shipped in from Lord only knows where!
I love that we have a rich history and culture!
The cost of living is fair, and we have WEGMANS!
Good call, M- I can't believe I forgot one of my very favorite things about where we live! I heart Wegmans.
There are so many things!
I love all of the natural geography...Niagara Falls, Finger Lakes, Adirondaks, 1000 Islands...Upstate NY is just so beautiful with the rolling hills of the farming areas and the mountains.
I love having 4 seasons...and I especially love fall.
We can get to many major cities within a few hours. We don't take advantage of this enough. And there are so many places within a short distance to even do a day trip.
Schools in our area are good and I
Wegmans!
Lucky you - we'll probably never get it at this end of the state!
My fav things are also what I miss most...
I love Jeff's family lake house. It's just a wonderful place to kick back and relax and living in/near a big city just doesn't allow for much of it.
Love the fresh air in the Adks.
My family is there!
School systems are awesome.
Snow! I miss it terribly.
Ditto!
I love 3 out of the 4 seasons (I don't like winter much). Biggest thing for me here, most of my family is here...all within a 45 minute drive.
