I called our HR person yesterday to get some information on our maternity leave. I was going to try to reserve my vacation and sick time so I could hopefully take a full 6 weeks.
When I called, he wasn't sure of the policy as the last person to require maternity leave took it 14 years ago.
He let me know today that I am actually going to get 6 weeks of full paid leave. And I can take my sick time and vacation time on top of it! I should be able to take 8 weeks of leave with Baby Mo! Yay!
Re: Maternity Leave Relief!
That's great!
You may also want to ask about FMLA (if your company has over 50 employees and you have been there for more than a year), which would give you 12 weeks off. The final 4 would be unpaid since you don't have any time off but it would protect your job while you're out.

that is awesome for you!!
i actually never came to an agreement with my boss...oops! i'm very curious as to what he is going to do for me.
I am going to have to make due with my 6-8 weeks with baby. My due date is actually 2 weeks shy of my 1st employment anniversary.
I feel so lucky to have 6 weeks paid since I haven't even been here for a year!
