Good idea, or will it be cold and nothing to do? I've never been there. I'm thinking it would probably be better in summer, but DH is ready NOW for a weekend away.

Re: Wilmington in April?
You could go the weekend of the Azalea festival. I think it is the second weekend in April. That would give you something to do. April can be hit or miss with the weather and all.

I think April is my favorite month here. Weather is usually in the mid-to-low 70's and it usually doesn't rain much. The local flowers are in full bloom!
ETA: I got married mid-April here and it was 75 and sunny that day
The water at the beach is still too cold, though.
April 9th is the weekend of the Azalea Festival, so there will be plenty of stuff going on, especially downtown. I don't think the weather is too cold. I remember last year's Azalea Fest, we went to a big festival party that Saturday night. It was outside and I was wearing a typical gown, no coat and I was just a little cool.
I'm not sure if you'll be able to lay out though, it just depends on what type of weather we're having.
