Totally Busted- Baby Related

I'm NOT pg, I'm just going to put that out there first!

I ordered a couple dog books on adjusting to baby and the baby bargins book to start reading up since we'll be trying in the very near future. My parents were in town and were going to stop by on Sunday. Now my mother has been ready for grandkids for like 5 years now and lets me know regularly that she's ready to be a grandma and all that jazz. All I've told her is that we'll be trying soon enough and she needs to just chill. Obviously I don't want the monthly phone calls of "did you get af? are you pg yet?" so we're keeping it hush hush on the actual timeline.

Anyways, I thought that they would at least call first, but no they didn't and just showed up. I was sitting on the couch with all my books out reading and didn't have time to hid them away. Then my sister notices them and screams out "what are you doing with baby books Nichole?!" I could have killed her! I quickly just said 'reading up on stuff for the future' and started in on asking what my mom thought of these curtains. No one has said anything since. haha I'm just waiting for my mom to start asking questions. So I'm busted, I'm sure she knows whats up.

  • That is hilarious! I had a very similar experience with my MIL. When my sister asked me to be in the delivery room with her I bought a couple of books. I had them sitting on the coffee table when MIL came over. I didn't think anything of it until she said, "I don't like to pry." No, MIL we have not changed our mind on having kids. I am just prepping for my nephew. Awkward!
  • Maybe tell her to shut up or you'll start sharing all the details-including BD dates, positions, etc.

  • I hear you on that one - my MIL has been dropping hints since we met that she wants grandkids. Christmas - I got books as a "side gift" including a guide to sexual positions for pregnancy from her, then again on Saturday during lunch she was giving me tips -- thanks  -- she waits until dh is out of the room or getting the car to drop these things on me... and she is 70 so it makes it even more awkward.

  • Kelklump-ewww!!

Thank God our nieces & nephews all live very, very close to their grandparents.  The grandparents can get their fix anytime & leave us alone.

  • My inlaws help us out about once a week by letting our dogs out when we're both at work. I bought a pregnancy-related book, and I hid it in my desk for that exact reason. I don't feel like answering any personal and/or unnecessary questions at this point.
