Booked! Who's Been to Cabo?

I'm booked for a trip to Cabo for a friend's wedding in October!!!  Weeeee!  I'm staying at Riu Santa Fe in Cabo.  Has anyone been there?  Have any suggestions for places to go/things to do?  I'm going solo but the wedding has a ton of people coming to it and I know most of them so I'm sure I'll be able to find lots of people to go out outings with.  :)

Re: Booked! Who's Been to Cabo?

  • Umm... ME! Got married in Cabo... ;)

I haven't stayed at the Rui, but I toured it when I was scouting locations. It is HUGE. Like, a monstrous complex (the Santa Fe and Rui Palace are in the same place as I remember) right outside downtown Cabo San Lucas. I'm sure for a bunch of young people it is a fun place to stay.

During the day, head down to the marina and take a boat/jet ski out to the arches. If you take a jet ski, pack a snack or some beers and hang out on Lovers Beach. On Lovers Beach (on the Sea of Cortez), the water is calm and the view of downtown is beautiful. If you cross over the other side of the beach (known as Divorce Beach), you're on the Pacific Ocean and the waves are insane! It is such a cool trip.

Golf is HUGE is Cabo (not sure if you're interested). The courses are spectacular (but $$$). I highly recommend Palmilla's Ocean course if you're going to play. Other than that, there are ATV rentals, horseback riding, tequila tastings... you name it, Cabo offers it.

I highly recommend going to lunch/dinner at The Office. It is an awesome Mexican restaurant on the beach and the margaritas are ah-mazing. The bar scene downtown is pretty confined to one strip, so it is pretty fun (and totally safe) to bounce from one location to the next. Cabo Wabo has great live music and El Squid Roe is usually a total sh!tshow (which is hilarious).

If you're interested in dropping some dinero on a fantastic dinner, the restaurants at Los Ventanas and the One&Only Palmilla (where I got married) are superb.

Sorry for the book. This is only a fraction of my Cabo recs!!! I'm so jealous you're going. I want to go back...

p.s. Will you wave at Palmilla for me when you pass it?

    From Oy Vey to Ole!

I survived the RoLex wedding and all I got was this lousy husband.

  • Looks like Rose has you covered!  :)

We were there about 5 years ago, can't really remember much of what we did besides lounge at the pool/beach and eat at the local hole-in-the-walls (yum!!!)  We stayed at my dad's timeshare Cabo San Lucas Beach & Tennis Club.  DH got a tattoo while we were there...so if you want a rec I'll ask him - hehe!  Cabo also has a Costco if you need to buy anything in bulk, b/c you most surely will.  I kid, I kid.
