I am SO PISSED right now. So, I've kind of mentioned here and there the saga to get our washing machine fixed. It just keeps getting worse at every turn.
3 weeks ago- washing machine broke
2 weeks ago- Sears came out to find out what was wrong; something with the tumbler (we have a front loader) so they'll just replace everything in the inside. Found out one of the big parts was covered under warranty, so DH and I decided just to fix rather than buy a new machine. Cost for Sears repair $300ish
Last week- Sears comes out to do repair (we have 2 HUGE boxes of parts in our condo now), but find out they can't turn off the water...valve is stuck and probably corroded. Sears can do NOTHING. We have to call a plumber. Called condo mgmt company- find out we have to have water turned off to ENTIRE condo building to get valve replaced. Cost for Plumber to replace valve $200
Today- plumber comes out to replace valve. Well, the valve is weird (or something), and isn't a straight replace. Option 1- cut into our wall and replace all the piping (and then, obviously, we'd have to get ANOTHER person in to repair the wall), all in all $$$$$$$. Option 2- they found a replacement part to fit our valve, so it now doesn't require cutting into the wall. However, this more than doubles the original repair cost....we're up to $480 now just to fix the valve.
And it wouldn't have even mattered if we bought a new washer because the issue is the valve. I'm so FVCKING pissed right now. Why can't things just work out in a straight-forward manner? THIS is what I meant when I wanted 2010 to be a stress-free year. I don't want all these issues to keep snowballing. I don't trust that this problem will be fixed until everything's installed, running, and without recurring issues. Oh, and btw, the Sears appointment to finally fix the gddamn washer isn't until NEXT week. WTF is Sears so booked??
I'm having a sh!tty week at work too, so this is just piling on top. I had to get it out. Thanks if you read this far.
Re: I need a Flameless Tuesday post (long)
I am so sorry! This sounds like a royal PIA above and beyond normal washing machine problems!!! I hpe you get it fixed realfast! and the washer fairy comes to visit you, too!
Hmm. Maybe I don't want a washer/dryer! After everyone's issues these past few weeks, maybe I should stick to the laundrymat. Eeep! That totally sucks butt, I'm sorry!
Ugh, that sucks. I'm sorry you are dealing with this crap but maybe you are just getting it all out of the way now to make for a better rest of the year.
This.
I'm really sorry about the whole thing - it blows monkey balls! Hopefully it will get fixed soon w/o additional costs, and that the rest of the day and year progress w/o any more stress.
