Cars - I don't get it

Why would you want it to be uber-quiet on the inside?

Sure it's nice to have a peaceful ride, but when you're driving isn't important to be able to hear, oh, I don't know, sirens?  horns?

But I never drive.  Am I missing something?  Why are all these cars advertising that you can't hear anything inside?  Is it really all that likely you'll end up in a room full of clocks ringing at once?

Re: Cars - I don't get it

  • LOL at the roomful of clocks. That sounds like something out of a horror movie.?

I used to have super loud cars and I still couldn't hear the sirens, especially over the radio. So to me, if I'm not going to hear the sirens anyway, I'd rather not hear road noises either. : )

  • Oh Caden, that's silly.  Just make the engine quieter, not the windows (or whatever) soundproof!

Of course, I'm a window-down driver anyway.  Except sometimes in the winter.

Well they do soundproof where the engine is. It just doesn't do all that much without soundproofing the rest of the car too. FWIW even a soundproof car isn't really soundproof so you can hear sirens - if you don't have the radio up and all that.?

I like the windows down too! ?

Well... the advertising is misleading, then.  Stick out tongue

(It's also not very effective as I can't remember which car it was)

  • Roomful of clocks makes me think of Dark Side of the Moon.

I agree with you.  You want to minimize most road noise, but you still want to be able to hear.

  • I used to always have the radio on in my car.  Now, when I actually get to be in the car alone (a la no Marisa), I often drive in silence.  It's pure bliss.

They must be targeting me in their marketing. =)
