Yes, master of the non-answer.
I do like that she agrees there is a right to privacy when so many conservative judges say there isn't. I'm wondering if they're going to try to spin that or is it as proof of her maverickness.
She needs to look up the definition of federalist.
OK, edit. Maybe I'm the one who's confused. I always thought of federalist as in the revolutionary times with those who favor a stronger federal government. But, now I'm reading about it (fact checking myself), and it appears there's this new federalism that's the opposite of that? I'm confused. It's reminding me of the Samantha Bee piece on being pro-decision.
I really don't think she had any idea what she was talking about. Based on her response to Katie's follow up question, I don't think she really understood that Roe is about right of privacy. Most Americans don't really understand the nuance of Roe, and it really wouldn't surprise me if she doesn't either.
So, I really wasn't surprised by her answer to this. It indicated someone who was totally clueless about the Court, abortion juriprudence, and constitutional law. Which would be fine for an average person. Not for a powerful job though.
I'm horrified by her inability to name a decision that she disagreed with. If she disagrees with Roe, can't she also say she disagrees with Planned Parenthood v Casey? Or give a general answer..."I don't like the direction the court has been going on with respect to social issues, it's overruling the will of the people."
That question was easy. It is an utter embarrassment that she had no answer.
Totally unqualified. Nothing more to it.
