E08 vent - these people annoy me

I shouldn't complain because I'm glad she only cares about the election and nothing else because she ANNOYS THE HELL OUT OF ME and I would love to see her gone come November, but come on.   I hate this whole attitude that the only thing that matters in politics is the election and then you can go back to the world and keep being ignorant.

Elizabeth D in her junkies post...

  • hah! ESF, loved your comment!

    za-za-zing!

  • I commented. ?Does this sound too mean?

"There is a whole lot more to politics than the election. ?If someone were to face a depression after the election I would suggest that they are not a political junkie, but an election junkie.

I, for one can't wait for this election to be over so that we can get back to talking about the important issues in a thoughtful and respectful manner. ?Multiple posts about absolutely nothing (Biden's hair, how many newspapers Palin can name, etc) are getting really old."??

  • Only a novice, a fair whether political junkie, would suggest that there will be little to discuss post-election. Bah.

  • Great comments, ESF and KatieF. Unfortunately they were both probably too subtle for the intented (very obtuse) audience. But I agree wholehertedly and raise my cartoon drink to you. Drinks

I haven't seen the post, but I can agree that "D" (so as not to confuse her with our own super cool Elizabeth) is extremely annoying.

That being said, yes, there are a lot of "novices" over there.  But I don't necessarily know that snarking at them is the way to go.  Is that board filled with a lot of ridiculous election junkies right now?   Of course.  But wouldn't it be nice to turn them all into political junkies, or at least into people who cared about politics beyond the elections?

I don't know if it's possible, but I definitely know that being snarky to them and holding onto an elitist "I'm better than you because I've cared about politics since I was yea (how the hell do you spell it in this sense, anyway?) high attitude" definitely ISN'T the way.

ETA: Okay, I didn't really see any of what I was thinking happening - based on the comments here - actually going down (i.e. I didn't see a ton of condescenscion or snark).   Good comments, all.  Do you think we could try to interject some of these non-election political questions into the thread, though, and see if anyone bites?

  • I've gotten really tired of that board. She's on my list of people whose posts I don't even bother to read anymore (a list that is getting longer and longer). If it's a thread she's started, I don't open it, if it's her post in another thread, I just skip over it.

I really, really wish we could get the ignore feature back.

  • Now I see why A06 Elizabeth was annoyed at that girl's username. Yikes.

I can't wait for the election to be over so we can go back to discussing ideas. I'm sick of all the candidate mocking.

  • Argh!!!!

A while back, ALL she did on our local was complain about finances or their lack of insurance. Her husband was a student, and she was a SAHM of 2. I appreciate her "right" to decide to SAH with the kids, but if you make that choice, don't complain that you don't have any money and you're bringing a baby into the world without any or adequate (I forget which) health insurance.

And of course by whether, I mean weather!

    Snark = FAIL!
