I Can't seem to want it.. =(

Hi everyone!! This is my first post... so yey!!Big Smile

I need some advise. I've been married for 6 months and have been having the GREATEST time. Seriously I'm so happy, we are so in love and have a great time together. But for the past few months, I don't seem to want to make love. We've talked about it. (He's the sweetest!) and the only thing that comes to my mind is: could it be the birth control??

Before getting married this was NOOO problem. Even when we had just gotten married. But now.....

I know he's frustrated, and that makes me soo sad. He asks if I'm attracted to him and that if I like how he makes love to me... and of course I do!

What can I do?

  • 1) Before you got married when you weren't having problems were you on the bc? it could be the birth control, I'd go to your doctor and switch it up and see if that changes things.

    2) Honestly the more you do it the more you'll want it.  It might sound lame of me to say but sometimes when you just go for it even if you're not in the mood at first you often get into the mood during foreplay.

  • It may be the birth control, especially if the change started to happen around the time you started taking it. You may need to change prescriptions. That was the main reason I stopped my BCP. I hated the dive my libido took!

  • It could be the birth control. I can't take any birth control, the side effects are horrible for me.
  • Different types of birth control can have different kinds of effects on your sex drive. Depo-provera KILLED mine completely. Talk to your doctor about maybe trying another method than whatever it is you're currently on.

  • Thanks so much girls for all your comments!!

You made me feel so much better. I will talk to my doctor about another method. Condoms are not a choice cuz I'm allergic to Latex, but a friend has a Chip. I've been told it's very efective, and it lasts for like 3 years. which is just how long we'd like to wait to have kids.

    Thanks again to all!!

  • I am a bit confused.  You say that you were into sex before the wedding but not now?  Were you on BC before the wedding?  Your sex life waxes and wanes.  Sometimes you have a ton of sex and other times it is a couple of times a week.  What changed in your life after you got married?  You might want to examine your life before you automatically jump on the "BC is the issue" boat, because if you were on BC before you got married then I doubt that is the reason you don't want sex.

And there are other condoms out there that do not have latex in it.   What is the Chip?

  • Personally, I go through patches where I could care less about sex. Ironically, I have found the thing that strengthens my sex drive is to have more sex.  It can be hard trying to put myself in the mood at first, but the end results are great.  Honestly, sex is like pizza - even when it is bad - it is still pretty good.  GL

  • it is definetly the b.c pills.
  • Hey guys!

So yesterday I talked to my doctor and she said it is VERY likely it's the B.C.P.

We got into a couple of other choices, but in the end, she says that almost all birth control is hormone based, so chances of me reacting the same, are high.

Talkd to the hubby also and we decided to wait a  couple months before making a final decision.

I've been thinking about what some of you said... that having sex makes you want more... and I guess that's true. Cuz when we do.. I (we) have so much fun.

I'm gonna try to do it more often and be more.... spur of the moment if you will..

    :P Thanks girls!

  • I'm allergic to latex as well. Trojan makes a non-latex condom, which are amazing. They are called Trojan Supra, you should try them.
  • How long have you been together?  Me and my H were together a short time before we got married and had sex all the time.  It was too much at times!  We moved in a couple months before we got married and things were the same.  Months after the wedding we had a dry spell.  It was wierd neither of us really wanted or tried to have sex.  We would talk about it and ask each other why we weren't having sex. It just wasn't happening as much as normal.  It lasted about a month.  We seem to just have times when we have sex all the time...sometimes everyday once or twice.  And then we have some time when we don't have sex for a week or so.

Every couple is different.  Somethings we have noticed is we have sex less when he is working a lot.  He just is too tired.  Or if he isn't working out as much he loses some of his sex drive.  Just relax and have fun together.  It will come back!  If it doesn't their may be an issue to look into.
