ebay

I've never sold anything on there, but DH & I need to get rid of some junk. We've only bought maybe 5 things. I'm starting with boyds bears. I have come to hate them. My mom will probably flip when she finds out, but stuffed animals are just not my decorating style! I'll save a few for future kids, but that is IT. If anyone wants any, let me know!

What do YOU buy/sell on ebay?

Re: ebay

  • Good luck with your selling!  I've never sold anything on eBay before.  I usually buy random things off of eBay...usually when I'm having no luck finding what I'm looking for in conventional stores, or if I want to try something out/get a sample (usually as in makeup) and not pay a ton.  I don't do a lot of shopping on there though...probably in the last 6 months I've bought maybe 3 or 4 things.

  • I have never sold anything either, but I do buy a lot of stuff.  Usually antique collectibles and replacement pieces for china or depression glass collections that I am working on.
  • *Hi* Poking my head in since I don't post much anymore...

I just finished selling a few things on eBay, so if you have any questions, let me know and I can maybe help.

I've sold a few things here and there.  The biggest tip I can provide off the bat is price comparable to like items, NOT what you want.  For example, the golf clubs I just sold, we wanted $50 each, they retail at $150 in stores, but they were selling (meaning already have been SOLD) on ebay for $30.  So I priced at $30, with buy it now at $50.  That way, if someone REALLY wanted it, they could BIN for what we wanted.  Otherwise, we knew we'd get something.  If they're selling for less than you want, try Craigslist first.

Also, ALWAYS get shipping confirmation and insurance if they're worth much.  And be in contact with your buyer every step of the way, including telling them when the item shipped, give them the tracking, and follow up via email when YOU see that it's been delivered.  When your contact is consistent, a buyer is less likely to screw you.

And for the record, if I can't profit at least $10 from an ebay transaction, I don't list it.  I just don't find it worth the energy.

Let me know if you have other questions!

  • My mom collected Boyd bears too.  I don't have the heart to get rid of them but I completely understand where you are coming from.  Stuffed bears have no place in my house.  Hope you are successful!
  • We've done Craigslist, but not Ebay-although I've purchased a lot from them.  I do love the BIN option! ... GL!
