Thank you so much ladies. I came back on here to find all of your encouraging responses. I've smoked since I was 15, with the exception of quitting for a couple years.
Think a very good point brought up was really truly wanting to quit. I need to get myself to that point. I used to be a pack a day smoker and have brought myself down to only about 5 a day now. I really appreciate you encouragement and advise; thank you.

I haven't read the responses or anything because I'm not a smoker but I am the only non smoker in my family. My parent's have quit and re-quit several times. Both of them found it easier to quit cold turkey. My mom had a scare and a rush to the emergency room while I was out visiting Ashley and Marelina last year and that is what triggered her to quit again. However, she keeps one cig in the office. When she is having a bad day, she holds it...doesn't light it, and may "puff" on it...again not lighting it. She has also do it with a straw at work when her boss was being less than stellar. Going through the motions helps her. In previous years, she's tried the gum and hated it, tried the patch but they were too strong for her. If you do try the patch, the pharmacist said she could cut them in half and use them still...just in case you go that route and they are too strong for you. My MIL took up crocheting when she quit...she also joined a group like AA for smokers. She's been cigarette free for probably almost 10 years now. My gram found big success with accupuncture. My BIL and SIL quit cold turkey as well, recently because they figured out how much money they'd be putting in the bank if they quit. My dad tried that fake cig they advertise...the one that "blows real smoke rings" which is just water vapor. Said it was THE nastiest thing he's ever put in his mouth...so don't go that route. It's also not free like they advertise...he ended up paying 80+ dollars for it.
Anyway, If you have your heart set on it, you'll do it no matter which way works for you. Don't get hard on yourself if you find it difficult or go back every now and then on your journey...quitting things are hard and no one expects you to just automatically *poof* and be done with it. Good luck!
Lisa, YOU CAN DO IT!!!
