For the Owl Lovers!

First of all, long time no see!  Please don't hate me!  I've been spending most of my time on the Baby boards since my mind is pretty much all babies all the time and I know you ladies got sick of hearing about that!

Anyway, I wanted to share something cool with you guys (Sax specifically) that I discovered yesterday...

This guy in my area set up an owl nest set up with cameras.  For two years nothing happened but now he has a mating pair with FIVE EGGS!  One is supposed to hatch any day now (it's actually "overdue").  Anyway, you can see and hear everything that goes on.  I have it open in a different tab with the volume up so when something happens I hear it and can switch over.  If you're into learning about nature, this is very informative.  There are people answering questions about owl behavior in case you have questions.

Here's the Live Stream!  She's just sleeping right now, and they just finished up a live class session so you won't get to hear the super cute kids asking questions, but it's surprisingly entertaining even when she's not doing anything.  And it's just so much fun to see what's going on in there.

Re: For the Owl Lovers!

  • I love these kinds of things.  Thanks for posting.  I once came across a live stream for kittens and one for puppies.  They trying to adopt them out though, but I loved watching them.
  • First, welcome back! You should come by more - we don't mind your baby talk at all :)

Second, this is a really cool site - thanks for sharing! This is really cool to watch!!

  • Barn Owls! Neat!  I just had the 2 babies I was taking home in December released last week.  They were good little hunters! And you see all that grossness that they're standing on....thats a combo of pellets and poop.  I cleaned up more of that from those babies than is in the videos! Lots of skulls and leg bones and such.  Thanks for sharing.  Just wait till they hatch, they look like little alien teradactyles, but in a super cute way.  And oh the noises they will make!
