Haiti on my heart...

Last Sunday at church they announced that they are putting together a mission trip to Haiti in August. They explained that while money and supplies are great that the face to face people connections are the best and while they (we?) are going there to help...we're going there to meet them, support them and be THERE for them. Something in that sense...I might not have explained it very well but I hope you can get what I meant.

It's been on my heart. To go or not to go? I'd LOVE to go. I can't figure out if I'm trying to talk myself into going or out of going...ya know?

Can ya help ladies? It would mean raising the $1400 for me to go and taking that time off work- those are my 2 biggest obstacles I'm looking at. I see the rest as a blessing and a blessing.

They did a rebuild mission trip after Katrina and I'm still kicking my arse for not going then. UGH....

Re: Haiti on my heart...

  • I think its wonderful that you are interested in going. If its in your heart to go.. all the details will work out.

    best wishes with your decision.

  • Do you happen to attend Austin Stone? That is the church DH and I go to and they are planning a mission trip to Haiti this summer. I would love to go but its just not doable right now. My MIL went to Haiti on a mission trip a couple years ago and said it was an amazing experience. I truly hope you get to go and experience it too!
  • No, not Austin Stone. I attend Journey.
  • If you feel led to do this, then I say let the Spirit lead and take a step on faith.  I've done a couple of mission trips as has my DH.  I highly recommend it.  I actually went to Africa 2 years ago.  I was doubtful if I should go or no but trusted God and honestly know that for a fact I was meant to go on that trip.  The money and vacation will all work out and you'll be very glad you did.
