My husband and I are moving to Cincinnati in May. I grew up in Columbus so I'm famiIiar with the area but not enough to know exact locations of good neighborhoods outside of the city.
I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the area of town that DeSales Flats is in. I know right around UC campus isn't the best part of town, so I'm not too sure where this fits in. This place is on the corner of Woodburn and Lincoln ave. across the street from Purcell Marian high school it looks like. Any help would be great.
We were also looking around Hyde Park, so any rental places any of you would suggest around there too? TIA!
Re: Desales Flats?
It's a little rough. It's not the worst neighborhood, but there are definitely better ones out there. While one street may be fine, 2 blocks away isn't great, kwim?
Definitely look into Hyde Park- there are lots of rental places around there.
If you want to live in an urban area, I would suggest the Gateway Quarter. We love that part of town. If we could afford a top floor condo we would move there.
Now we live in Columbia Tusculum and we love it. H takes the bus to work (last top before downtown on an express). If you drive you can be downtown quickly or anywhere pretty easily. I work on the west side and it is very easy to get around the city. We have a couple of restaurants. It is not a big neighborhood, but it is cute. During nice weather we walk to Mt. Lookout.
Well, I wouldn't mind living at DeSales since it is right across the street from Suzie Wong's and Mocha! I go to both frequently! Seriously, though, the building and parking look secure from what I could tell. I would have no problems living there.
We live in Oakley (near Hyde Park) and like it a lot. On my walks lately I've seen several apartments for rent. Maybe check Craigslist.
