What to get acquaintance for her birthday?
I'm going to a birthday brunch at an acquaintance's house this weekend. We're in the same social circle, connected by one of my best friends. I'm friends with her on Facebook but I don't have her phone number or anything so it's not like we really hang out without the aforementioned friend. Anyway, would you get her something for her birthday? If so, what? I'd like to spend $15 or less, if possible. TIA!

That's tricky! I think I would get a little something as a gift, and would probably aim for something really generic. Maybe a bottle of wine? A box of nice chocolates? I'd stay away from anything scented, because it seems like people are generally picky about that sort of thing.
For an occasion like this, I personally would go someplace like Emerald's or the Paper Place and just look around for something gifty and in your price range.

an orchid plant is also nice, IMO. I'm pretty sure HEB sells smaller ones that are >$15-20
i like the stationery idea. i personally don't drink wine, i have enough candles, and i'm trying not to eat chocolate. nice stationery, though, i would like.
eta: for christmas, one of my students gave me two tickets to the movies, which was probably about a $15 or $16 value. maybe find out which cinema is near her and give passes.
