Boo BC booo

I'm sad. I went to pick up my pills yesterday and they stopped making the generic ones. I could careless except I'm back to paying 40 bucks a month. Not that 35 more dollars a month will break me lol. But its the principal. I was sooo excited back in the summer when they put those out!

Maybe I will be getting off the pill earlier then I thought. This will give me the kick in the butt that I needed lol.

Re: Boo BC booo

  • that's such a bummer! I was paying about 50/month but I couldn't take the generic cause it made me sick - saving that money was definitely an incentive to get off the pill!
  • so lame.

  • That sucks!  I hope they lower the rate since there's no generic.  I switched to Mircette last summer to try it out and it was $45 and the generic was $15.  I tried both, but I didn't like it for me so I went back to OCT lo.  With my insurance, the brand OTC lo is still the preferred one, rather than the generic, so I only pay $30 at the pharmacy ($20 if I do the phone-in thing through my insurance company, which I do).
  • Why all of a sudden do they stop making the generic. Check to see if you can save money through mail order. Some insurance companies will give you 3 months for the price of one through mail order. My dr told me when you change BC you need to use back up pertection that month. It will take a month for the new type to get in your system.
  • Boo to that! But, as DH said way back when I was on BC, "That monthly cost is still cheaper than a baby"
  • I'm doing the online prescription for my BC...it's way cheaper. I'm getting 2 months worth for $26 instead of $40 for one month!!! Try to see if that's available, I swear some they inflate the prices at the store because we're forced to buy them there. We got smart and started looking elsewhere.

Costco has a pretty decent pharmacy rate as well.

  • hahah so true about it being cheaper then a baby!!

And they stopped making it cause of a lawsuit. something about they didn't have a patent from OTC to release it yet or something? I don't know... the pharmacist was mumbling when she told me lol.

I had asked my DR's office whenever I switched to generic back in the summer if I needed back up and they said no cause its still the same kind basically. Atleast I think it was my dr's office that said that... hmmm.
