Whats traffic like on Xmas day, into LI?
Considering going on the day of, but if it will take us 3-4 hrs from SI, then we will go after Xmas. Any advice?

depends on when you leave and which route you take....
I think if you are safe regardless if you leave VERY early - 9 am or before. Once you get into the latter half of the AM, you are bound to hit some traffic. The Belt Pkwy is rough, after 11 am, and I would expect the LIE/Southern State to get heavy around 10ish....Just prepare yourself for a bit of congestion if you can't leave that early.
