do I need a decongestant?

I've had a cold since Wednesday. Today I can feel fluid in my ear(s). I can for sure feel it in my left ear, and sort of feel like it might be there in my right also. It's not like when you have water in your ear after you go swimming, it's like just fluid or something in there and I can kind of feel it move around when I bend over or lay down, and sometimes it hurts.

Do you think I need a decongestant? I really don't know because I've never had this problem combined with a cold.

Re: do I need a decongestant?

  • Yep.  Colds always go right to my ears, and then to ear infections if I don't take a decongestant soon enough.  I'd take it for a day or two and if it doesn't get better or gets worse (pain wise) then see your dr. it might be infected.
  • Definitely take a decongestant! I had this happen with my allergies last year and spent an entire month dizzy because I had fluid in my ears. It was not fun. I hope you feel better soon!

  • Oi. Ok... took a decongestant about an hour ago. I hope it gets better! I haven't had an ear infection since I was like 16 and I was a big baby about it, lol. If it's not better by Monday then I'll be seeing my doctor.
  • Keep taking it.  I had vertigo a few years ago and it really sucked.
