I love people sometimes
90% of the time (in my job) when I do something nice, I get burned. The other 10% of the time makes me happy and keeps me doing this job.
We had a woman run in Thrs with her cat after having watched him be hit by a car. The cats tail is separated from the base of his spine and will most likely need to be amputated . . . its a wacko injury that will probably cause some urinary and bowel incontinence.
The woman was up front with me from the beginning that they had financial issues and could afford very little. She didn't ask for help, and was really sweet about everything.
We ended up taking checks to hold (better in our industry than to bill) and discounting the services by more than half. I ended up personally eating the cost of pain meds because they couldnt afford them.
Today the woman came in and brought me some awesome bows and headbands for Bebe. . . turns out she makes beautiful baby girl accessories and she wanted to thank me!
I was so stoked . . . not only are we going to be able to help this cat, but I know the cat is in a home that truly loves him. People don't generally thank us when we discount things like that, so this was a total treat.
Keep your fingers crossed for her cat, we will prob amputate the tail Monday . . . . she has little kids who ADORE this cat. (When they were in our office initially the daughter hugged her mom, held her moms face between her hands and said "dont cry anymore mommy your tears make me really sad." I almost squished that little girl for being such a sweetie!
