I have a questions about your grandma's cake...  

"just a regular German Chocolate boxed mix which is smothered in a can of sweetened condensed milk, caramel and chocolate sauce"

Do you smother with all three after you bake?  The caramel and chocolate makes sense to me and I think the condensed milk does too, but I just want to make sure.  I'm not going to have as much baking time as I'd like tomorrow so I'm thinking this might be a winner.

  • I made this cake minus the condensed milk because I just couldn't add that much sugar.  It was a hit even without it.  The birthday girls' favorite candies are Reece's and Butterfingers so I chopped those up and put them in the middle of the layers and on the top instead of Heath Bars.  SO GOOD.  It's definitely a keeper and it was so quick to make which was perfect for yesterday because my time to bake seemed to evaporate somehow.  Thanks for the recommendation!!!
  • Crap!  I missed ya!  So sorry - I was at my parents' cabin for the weekend so I was offline.  (my cell doesn't even work!)  Glad it turned out!
