I know this is a long shot but i need to try.
Alright: So in January Marc was diagnosed with DVT (blood clot in the leg). He has not family Doctor anymore as the one he used to have dropped him but because of legal issues they have to keep him until the clot goes away. When that happens he is out a family doctor.
I have a family doctor, i do not like him but i am glad i have one. Well that may now change-he is leaving and there is no law or rule or whatever in place for the clinic to provide his patients with a new doctor so this summer there is a 90% chance i will be out a family doctor.
I have always had a family doctor and because of my thyroid i need constant blood tests but if i lose him i then have to try and navigate free clinics.
So i am just wondering if there are any Montreal Nesties who have an information on a doctor that would be willing to take new patients. I know they are a rare breed-family doctors-but i have to try.
Thanks in advance.
Re: Montreal Nesties
The Calgary Health region used to have a list on their website (or you could call and they'd send it to you) of doctors accepting patients. I'm not sure it was up to date but if you called and they weren't you could ask if they knew of any doctors accepting patients. Eventually you find one.
Mine happened to be advertising outside of his office and I got lucky.
Does it work differently in Quebec?
Try taking a look at your Provincial College of Physicians and Surgeons to see if they have listings of doctors who are accepting patients.
Hmm, I just looked up the page and they don't actually have a list of family physicians who are accepting new patients, here is the page I was looking at, hopefully it helps a little bit.
